      Rides - 69 Camaro Foose

Just finished watching Rides - had a show all about the Foose 69 Camaro - did anyone else see it?

I watched it. I wish they had shown more shots of the finished car, especially the interior and the body modifications (bumpers, grille, etc...) though.

I noticed that my red '69 made a couple of appearances during the intro about '69 Camaros. That was cool

Did anyone see the car at Goodguys? I'd like to see some still photos of it.

Yeah, I saw it. I like it. Colors, stance, modified grille & valence, rocker extensions, interior--it was all pretty cool. There were some quality issues brought about by the timetable. Foose admitted both at the show and on TV, that there was more work to do. I've seen more recent photos that showed progress. I met Kevin King from Year One and Joey from Unique at Goodguys. They were both really cool.

I liked the episode too. Rides is definitely my favorite TV show. I sure hope this thread doesn't descend into the usual nitpicking slamfest.

Thanks for bringing it up. i got Tivo set for the second running. I saw a spread in a Muscle Car magazine, I thought it was OK, but for the money, not impressed.

Yeah I won't be nit-picking it. I think the first thing we should all be happy about is Pro-Touring build style is finally getting the exposure we've all wanted it to get. Chip Foose's 1969 Camaro is just one way that is helping Pro-Touring become mainstream, and that's good. Overall I think it's a cool car. I think he's added a few nice touches to it in typical Foose style. I don't think the goal is to make a crazy one off car that's like nothing you've seen before. I think what they are trying to do is offer a wicked turn key PT car for the masses and I think they accomplished it.

On a personal note (the designer in me is coming out) I actually think that the car looks real clean without the rear wing. I don't think it looks bad at all. Overall i think it's a good looking car. I especially like the seats and dash design. Neat detailing.

      Re

I thought that was very well done! Was the dash a Covan? I like it. Someone was saying that it's pretty flimsy? You know the only thing I saw was lack of the front spoiler. I'm not knit picking, still thought it was awsome! I didn't even miss the other stuff mentioned, because I was amazed at the quality. Trond.

      Re

I thought the black 69 was mean as hell looking.... but the rims were toooo big. Just my opinion. I think your black 69 looks a hell of alot better than the one they showed SW! If my black 69 turns out half as good as yours did SW I'll be as happy as a pig in sh#*! Trond

I found the pics of the car on Unique's website:
      http://www.uniqueperformance.com/Camaro.aspx

The dash is a Covan panel. I had one in my last Camaro, and it wasn't flimsy to me. Mine fit perfectly, and looked nice. Those Foose seats are sweet though! I wonder what brand they are.

i agree i wish the show would have got a little more in depth on the build. just a nice clean 69. i also dont hate the no rear spoiler look and i love the blacked out rear panel. chip could have been a little more exotic on the engine. i dont think i ever did here what tranny thay were using

The specs on the car are on that link I posted. It has a 5-speed in the show car.

They really weren't shooting for "exotic" or 1-of-a-kind custom work, since this car needs to be mass produced. I'd call it a "Foose inspired" design, but not an all-out Foose custom like he would probably do if it was a 1-of canvas to play with.

Just finished watching it, overall, I think the car was pretty cool, but I think it needed a rear spoiler. Since nobody wants to hear nit-picking, I'll end it right there.

I really dig it. It's different then most 69's. A rear spoiler would of looked good, but not a stock rear spoiler. It would not look good on that car (IMO).

Dave what the hell is that badger video????? I thought the foose camaro was alright, definetly nothing special and probably not a great value, but it was a nice car outside of all the hype, but it looked more like a car from "overhaulin" than a 200K special car

It was built by the same guy that built the red 69 that won the Year One Cup.

One great thing about the lack of spoiler, its one less thing to clean/dry/wax.

I like the foose car but I am not crazy about it.
