Well time to live the dream just purchased my project car. Originally wanted a 67-69 to build a pro touring car but found an awesome deal on a 71. And picking it up tomorrow. Then time to get to work!

Welcome! I like all year Camaros but my let's be different side says the 2nd gens are the way to go. Better suspension starting point too. Have you got a game plan yet?

When I was in high school my best friend had a 71 Camaro and another had a 71 Firebird with the ram air hood. Both cars had way more coolness factor than my Nova. Here's a link to a few photos of our tech dept. lead and test car driver Jay's 2nd gen project for some inspiration. It sports all off the shelf suspension parts and we're looking at boosting the LS for about 750+ RWHP. This will be the next Speedtech flog it at the track car. I talked to David last week (not on the forums) and I believe the car has Hotchkis front and rear springs also

thats correct it has front and rear....the front is a 71 standard camaro and the rear of the car is a 70 ss with a 12 bolt posi 3.73 i believe he said...id be a liar if i told you all that i understood exactly what that means yet haha. i guess more of a background. Im 23 years old and live in Sacramento, Ca . Family friends with Rodney and his wife who made the mistake of inviting me to a Goodguys autocross event and an even bigger mistake by letting me ride co pilot in one of Rods heats......Taking things apart, putting them together has always been something i have loved... I grew up in the bay and when i was about 9 found a lawn mower and figured out how to fix it just so i could mow the lawn....from then i got addicted to R/C cars my grandpa is an electrial engineer so he made me build an electric car first....but from then it went to the nitro powered cars and airplanes...when i was in middle school i discovered go peds..that lasted about a month till it got stolen. In highschool i started working on dirtbikes a little bit. When i graduated i still did not own a car only a bike....i discovered craigslist and found a 89 xr600 in boxes and paid a guy $500 for it...spend the next 2 months rebuilding the dang thing till one day my mom walked in the garage and said "omg omg its running now what?" honestly i didnt know so i hoped on my bicycle road to the dmv and got my motorcycle permit. but it taught me enough that i have restored well over 15 bikes now....has anyone gotten the idea yet? my toys keep getting bigger and bigger... i didnt own a car until i was 21 but had the guts enough replace my own clutch and brake system.

Recently i got an awesome opportunity to work for volvo and mack trucks as a salesman. Now im a 23 year old with a full time career paying job....so honestly im very new to this whole car restoration process but im willing to learn and have plenty questions. thanks to Rod hes steered me in a pretty good direction i think even though im stubborn and bought a car without an engine and a transmission anyways... whooops i couldnt pass this up for 4k though most of the body work has been taken care of and its rust free with paperwork

i believe he said he cut a quarter inch off each front coil im going over there today with a note pad and writing down everything that he has done. so ill know and i can do an official write up of my plans for the car
