Aftermarket Automatic Headlight switch?

Hey all,

Looking to add automatic headlights to my 66 GMC. I saw a thread just below where a guy did it, however I was hoping to take it a step further and find either an OE or aftermarket switch that has the "A" position to set them to automatic, or allow me to easily switch them ON/OFF when wanted. I like the look of the modern VW switches, however can't seem to find one with the switch and light-sensing module, and would have to modify the metal dash a bit to fit its concave shape.

Anyone do anything like this before and have some links or products to offer up?

Dakota Digital makes a module that has automatic headlight control and retained accessory power:

So it will auto turn the lights on in low light without me pulling the switch, and if I pull the switch in daylight my lights will still come on? That's how I anticipate it to work. Damn though . . . for $200 I'll try the module linked in the other thread with my stock switch at $39 bucks. Thanks for the link though!

The best part of the Dakota Digital unit is the retained accessory power. It may not sound like it'd be very useful, but it's nice to have the power windows and radio stay active after you've shut down the engine. I've been spoiled by having it in my Sierra haha.

It wires in parallel with the factory headlight switch and runs off switched ignition.

It'll do exactly what you're saying...

Where was the thread you were talking about that used the stock switch and a module? I am interested in doing this very same thing in my wagon.

Pretty much my last post... that module wires in parallel with the stock switch.
