      Should I do it?

So I have been looking for a project car/truck to turn into a pro-touring machine and I came across an immaculate 74 f series ford in my grandmothers barn. As the story goes it was bought new by my great grandmother and I thought it would be neat to keep it in the family while putting it through its paces.
So what do you guys an gals think? Is there a good aftermarket for suspension on these trucks and are there any built examples out there? I appreciate all input.

Sounds pretty good to me. There are people grafting Crown Vic IFS into the front.

      Should I do it?

Thanks for the IFS idea, are there universal 4-links that would work on this? " first time tossing an idea of a ford around don't k ow what's out there".

Yes. Please do this. We need more Ford's and Mopars. AND I'm a GM guy.

I'd just go measure the frame rails and make some calls. The rear-end will be easy. As for the front the Crown Vic option is a solid idea. And all though I hate the show, look up Gas Monkey Garage, or whatever it's called. They did a Dodge Truck as grafted a Crown Vic clip into it. Don't forget No Limit, Roadster Shop and countless others have IFS kits that are wide enough and tough enough now.

Check out scot rods garage on Facebook they are located in Texas and do the crown vic swaps all the time and they just started to make a 4 link specifically for these f100's they sell everything you need to do this swap front and rear, also very helpfull when you get stuck.

      Should I do it?

I did have one more question though, I realize that the late 80 f-bodies and such are getting more accepted and goodguys is opening there borders a bit to post-72 cars how do you think the future will be for these "newer" cars an trucks in pro-t.

I say go for it! It would be good to see another Ford on the track.

Go for it. The 2003 Crown Vic/Marquis front suspension is almost a bolt in and you can get kits to put t-bird/Mark VIII independent rear suspensions in these trucks also. This is what I have planned for my 79 SWB F100 after I get the mustang done.

I have a 1979 f100 that is getting the crown vic treatment. a cheap rear end option is an 8.8 from a '97 and up explorer. they are 3.73 and have discs and allot have ltd slips in them! put it on top of the leafs for now.

I'm hoping to start the CV swap pretty quick. just gotta find some rims and tires to roll the front suspension around as 15" explorer rims don't clear the brakes!
