New TIG Welder -X-Mas gift to myself!

I decided to buy myself an early X-mas gift. I've been looking at the HTP TIG welders for a while now. I have their spot welder, and it's awesome! I've never TIG welded before, and always wanted to learn. So, here it is.....The HTP Invertig 221 AC/DC dual voltage. I went ahead and purchased the Miller MVP power cord and 230/115V adapters (part #1104) for about $115. It was a pain wiring it up to the welder, and I really think HTP should have this already installed, IMO. Anyway, I can now switch from 115 to 230V by just switching out the adapter. I have this set up on my Millermatic Passport Plus MIG welder and it comes in very handy. My next task is to build a custom welding cart to store both my MIG and TIG welders w/ bottles and storage for misc. parts, rods, helmet, gloves, etc. I haven't tried out the new welder yet, but I'll report back to share my thoughts once I do. The customer service from USAWELD.com was excellent. They are very helpful and responsive to calls and emails. I'd recommend them on their service alone! Off to break in the new machine.

I just picked up a Lincoln Tig with the same thought as you. I am also new to TIG welding and now realize that I suck at it. I need to practice A LOT more before I do any projects. LOL! Have fun with it.

      Nice! Merry X-mas to you!

My buddy just bought a HTP tig with cooler. And sold me his 5 year old Lincoln 185 Tig. Less then half the price of new. My X-mas present also. LOL

      Usaweld.com

They had a Black Friday special, so I saved $200 plus they gave an additional $100 off towards accessories. All in it was just over $3,000, but I bought a cover, Pyrex kit, hand control amp kit, bunch of filler, etc. not cheap, but hopefully this will be the only TIG machine I'll need to buy ( at least for what I'm going to be doing)
