      Diveshaft question

OK. I know this is a dumb question, but I have to ask anyway. Being this is my first build, of this kind, I have to ask, what is the average diameter of a driveshaft and how far should the floorboard/tunnel be away from it? The reason I ask if because I am workinging on floorboard pieces on my project now.

You want at least 1/2" between the body and any moving driveline parts.

There is no such thing. The link I posted outlines the specifications that you can use to determine the driveshaft that you use.

If you want a quick easy answer, I would leave enough room to accommodate a 4" diameter shaft.

Its really a factory of money and Horsepower

formula: smaller Diameter x more HP = Mucho Dinero or larger diameter x same HP = a little less cash... Then of course exotic material can offset diameter to achieve the same HP...

I would say it depends on your build and your goals. For example, I've got just under 500hp and want to keep my car as light as possible so I will be going aluminum (CF is out of my budget). On sizing I will be ordering something good up to 800hp'ish as I plan on future upgrades.
