      Aftermarket ECM options

I bought a used fuel injection setup with the Accel DFI Gen7 computer. As I'm going over the instructions and wiring harness I see that it has been hacked up some. The CTS connector was cut off (no big deal) but the IAC was completely removed (cut out, taped and buried in the loom) and I'm wondering what else might be wrong with it.

So I'm thinking about buying a modern computer and harness to replace the DFI stuff which is getting old anyway. Holley HP and Fast 2.0 both caught my attention and they sell kits to use with your own MPFI hardware. I'm going to call Fast and Holley and get some more particulars, but I'm curious if anyone else has already gone down this road.

Does anyone have experience with either of these two new EFI systems (including the throttle body version)? Or even the Gen7 Accel stuff? I'm pretty sure I can get the hacked up Accel harness working, but I'm wondering if I'd be better off spending some extra money and going with the newer technology right off the bat.

Can you use efi connection and run a GM ECM?

I actually thought about converting it to OBD1 before because I'm familiar with it, but I doubt that would be fun with a 238* cam. And having spent hours upon hours digging up OBD1 info, I think I'd rather go a more user-friendly route this time. I called Holley and they were very helpful...it looks like a pretty sweet setup. I even downloaded the software online for free to try it out.

BigStuff3 is great, Holley is great, GM is good.

ODB1? http://www.eficonnection.com/eficonnection/default.aspx uses LS ECMs. Just another option IMO

I fail to see how any of that is less expensive than say a Holley HP system. By the time you add all of the special hardware bits, the ECU, harness, and then buy HP Tuners or EFILive, where is the advantage?

Yes, I see the other stuff is OBD2, I just meant that I've gone the OEM route before and would rather do something more user-friendly. And pricewise the Holley is about the same. An OBD1 conversion would have been much cheaper because I already have all of the tuning stuff... but 238* duration is just a lot more than those systems were engineered for.
