      Braille Battery?

I'm getting to a point in my build when it is not completely insane to be thinking about a battery. I have been leaning towards the Braille 3121 but my reasons are not very sound:

it was the battery that Frank was recommending
it seems a bit lighter than an optima
B&B Classics makes a cool, black anodized mount for it

So, there it is; I'm not proud.

Does anyone have real world experience with Braille in a street car, driven occasionally, but with trickle charging capabilities available? Are there any advantages that make it more worthwhile than going the optima route and having a known quantity (regardless of anyone's particular experiences with Optimas....).

Thank you in advance for the feedback.

I have a 17lb Braille, works good for me. It would be nice to have a bit more reserve capacity though. I kept my battery under the hood, thus choosing a smaller battery. If I were to move it to the trunk, I would look into a Deka AGM full size battery.

I have no first hand experience, but Deka, Braille, East Penn...I dunno. If you care about wieght and not much else then go for it.

Are the odyssey batteries sealed and has the same mounting capabilities/spill proof as the Optimas?

I have the Braille 3121 with the B&B mount...trunk mounted and have been very happy with it. I have a fairly large stereo and have had no issues with either starting power or issues keeping up with the stereo (140amp alt.). Nice to have both the top and sides mounts as well as the small size is a real space saver. I keep it on a tender and am going on 2 years without issue.

Thanks for the feedback! Especially Bret, it is good to hear from someone with the firsthand knowledge. I'll take a look at Odyssey as well (and what brackets are out there for them) but I think that maybe I'll go the non-Optima route this time. Bret, do you use a battery Tender brand trickle charger, or a Braille brand, or something else? I think that I already have a small Battery Tender so I wouldn't necessarily want to have to get a new charger, too, and I'm pretty sure I shouldn't need to? Thanks again, folks.
