Ford 9" - Check My Pattern

Long time reader, first time poster. I bought a Ford 9 DSE quadralink last year and am just now getting around to setting up the gear set. It is a new center section and new gear set, so I could use a little help verifying the pattern. Thanks in advance!

Needs more work. Your pattern is too deep. Try using less gear marking compound as well.

'Too deep'. Please elaborate. Does that mean the Pinion needs shimmed out, or that the pattern is too deep in the gear.

      Affirmative in the compound.

Take .005 out of the pinion shims and try again.

you will need to put a thicker pinion depth shim it. at least 0.005.
