      New to Forum...

Been watching the pro touring scene for a while, and I think I finnaly have an opportunity to build one, on a budget,, I have a good neighbor that is into older cars as well, and he is doing some work on a '63 ranchero his dad left him , when he said that he bought a 65 or 66 mustang for the seats & console for the rancharo...and was going to scrap the rest...well he ended up asking if I wanted the car, understand that it is a michigan rust bucket, and the floors are gone, but it does have a title, and free is free...soo the quick plan is to cut the whole bottom out of the car & replace with a perimiter frame and a stock car front section and truck arm rear ....used cup/ stock car parts are cheap, and I am farmilar with them, so here I go....I am torn on the powerplant....I am not a big fan of the SBF...I was thinking about a SBC/LS based motor with a 4/5 speed, and a 9"...I know the Ford guys will give me grief, but Oh well...I am awaiting the car to arrive so I can truly asses what needs to be done, but anything is possible, and I have goten several good ideas since lurking around on here..Shawn

Hey Shawn, welcome aboard. Sounds like you've got a good plan so far, nice to see another old car, no matter how rough a start, saved from the scrapper. Good luck and keep us posted.
