Car covers
As some of you may know I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my new car "Quicksilver".
In the past I have always kept my cars covered when not in use.
I am curious as to how many of you store your weekend/nice weather only cars under a cover? I have a lift in my garage for minor repairs and maintenance. An added benefit of a lift is to insulate the car from damages resulting from my active 9 and 12 year old boys bikes,4 wheelers, basketballs, footballs etc.
Would you suggest also using a car cover?
If so what brand?
Finally I am interested to hear your thoughts in regards to "California Car Dusters". Will this product over time scratch the paint/clearcoat?

09-01-2005 #2I have a 5 and 2 year old. Their bikes, scooters and battery operated 4 wheelers are all in the garage. I've learned to keep a cover on the car ALWAYS, while in the garage, ever since I found a set of scratches acrossed the hood, that are misteriously the exact spacing of a set of Hot Wheels diecast car wheels
Keep in mind, with your car on a lift, this won't protect it from "flying objects", such as footballs, frisbees or who knows what.
I've also learned it helps protect against the grinding, spray painting and welding parts that I'm preparing to install.
I picked-up a cover at Pep Boys, it was in sale and had a rebate. Think the net price was about $30.00. It's a fairly nice breathable cover, not to thin. I didn't think I needed anything special, since I don't need to worry about it protecting from rain, or other weather.Mike
