GTO t56s have a few better internal parts, but they have wider gearing than the TA transmission. Decide what gear set you want and go from there.

The GTO has a nice first gear and has the triple syncro cones I think they are called like the vette and the CTS-V. Because of this it shifts much nicer and has a less notchy feel to it. Also because the GTO t56 is newer it has alot of updates the F-body trannies didn't get like shift fork. Because of the syncros GTO T56's do cost more to rebuild.

IF price were the same I'd go with the GTO T56.

So with a 335/30 rear tire what gear ratio would you run, 3.73?
