Too many cheap projects on Craigslist...

Dammit!!! I hate Craigslist! There are just way too many decent project car possibilities posted every day here in the Seattle area. I don't have a garage, and I don't have the coin, but if I did I'd be lovin' it. Since I don't, I hate it!

Here's a list of cool cars posted just today... like every other damn day... all under my "decent deal limit" of $2000 max:

      '69 Chevelle - $2000, http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/94159361.html

      '62 Comet 2 door - $500, http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/94257794.html

      '67 Electra 225 convertible - $1700, http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/94250903.html

      '80 Trans Am, 6.6 liter, 4 wheel discs - $1000, http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/94241386.html

      '67 Riviera - $1500, http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/94173470.html

      '74 Ventura hatchback - $1000, http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/94128719.html

      '75 Corvette - $2000, http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/94106431.html

This doesn't include all the neat vintage imports or legit sport compacts, or the slightly more expensive decent deals on unfinished race projects, driver level cars, or rare resto candidates, or the odd cool 4 doors. And I could go on and on about all the stuff that was posted over the last week or so, including killer mid '60s Mopars and Fords. DAMMIT!!!!

      Sigh...

The 67 Riv would be fun. Lots of power and they handled pretty decently to begin with, it would make for a fun and unique pro-touring car.

It's terrible... There are plenty of very decent driver level cars for $3500 or less, and a decent number of 1st and early 2nd gen F bodies show up regularly for under $5K (sometimes under $3k).

Since I'm looking anyway, I figure I'll just keep everyone drooling/annoyed:

      '64 Falcon 2 door - $1200, http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/94343994.html

      '69 F100 - $1500, http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/94338355.html

      '59 Edsel 2 door - $1500, http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/94337131.html

      '73 Dart Sport 318 - $1500, http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/94333238.html

The F bodies aren't usually as good a deal, but here are a few of the more interesting (though not necessarily cheap) offerings over the last couple weeks:

      '68 SS drag car - $14500, http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/93979439.html

      '67 incomplete pro-street project - $5000, http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/94332711.html

      '69 shell, possibly Z28, no title - $1500, http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/93224586.html

      '69 Firebird 400 - $1400, http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/91016733.html

Some scams certainly show up, but when they're strictly local ads, I can't see what scam could happen (assuming you don't stupidly show up to some guy's house with $15k in cash so he can kill you). I suspect the sucky economy (nevermind whatever the Bush administration claims) and high gas prices have just put a hurting on some owners. I see very decent driver quality cars showing up for super reasonable prices, and I can only guess some folks are getting tired of putting $100 in gas in their big block Nova or 351C powered Cougar every week. Of course, don't ignore the influx and attraction of good powered imports with good mileage to boot...

Hey Buddha on page 89 of the october hot rod is a car so cool I want to eat the magazine. It reminds me a little of "our" special torino project. All that car needs is a license plate and my big ass in the drivers seat.
