Speedtech Shop Project: Jason's 69 Camaro RS

Jason brought this 69 RS in recently for a complete suspension and drivetrain overhaul. It was originally built a while back with an old school style PT suspension, a 540 big block and TKO trans, and 275s out back on polished 17" TTs. Jason felt that the car looked too old school and lacked some driveability and modern feel. He decided to go with a full Speedtech Track Time suspension package which includes our front sub frame, high clearance control arms, and rack and pinion steering. Out back leaf springs got replaced by a mini tub and our Speedtech torque arm rear suspension. His old 11" brakes have been replaced with Baer 14" all around with 6 piston calipers. For drivetrain we went with an LS3 backed by a 6 speed T56. Rolling stock now consists of Forgeline RB3Cs, 19x9.5s and 20x12s wrapped in 265-35-19s and 335-30-20s Michelins. Just a few more items on the checklist and we'll have it ready to roll. Stay tuned for some final pics...

      Original "outdated" look and drivetrain

Original interior, fairly nice so we'll be doing just a few minor upgrades here

While on the lift for suspension removal and minitub we had to do something about this ugliness too, WoW!

After cleaning, stripping, a coat of epoxy primer and bed liner, it looks 100% better!

Once the floor was ready we were able to get rolling on the rear suspension install

Front suspension with LS3 and T56 mocked up in our sub frame. What a difference this will make over the way it was!

Pretty cool when you can say your brakes are now the same size as the car's original wheels! lol!

These Forgeline wheels are killer! Polished lips with brushed spokes. They're HUGE and the blades are twisted which should help create some airflow past the brakes.

Putting 20s on these smaller muscle/ pony cars can sometimes look a little out of proportion, but these tires have a decent sidewall and with the right stance it looks fantastic!

      More coming soon...

Got the exhaust in the car. It's a 3" stainless custom build kit that we carry from Stainless Works. Looking good! Biggest thing we're waiting on now is our engine pulley kit which is on back order. By the time it gets here we should be have everything else all buttoned up and ready to roll!

Notice how much ground clearance (compare to frame rails and trans) our custom designed headers have compared to most brands out there. A true pro-touring header for cars with a lowered stance.
