      New Guy Import to domestic

Hey guys. I have never been to this site but after speaking with someone from pro-touring last ngiht I thought Id join and check it out. When I was 9 my family got a 76 T/A and we sold it when I was 15, but it left a lasting impact. Ive been into turbo import cars for years now, I drive a 97 Supra, but but looking to get back into a T/A. Id like to get a 79. Ill mostly surf on here and try to soak up what I can. Thanks!

Yep, that's what seems to happen with that car. I have to admit the same thing happened to me.

Welcome, but why isn't good on the street? Just asking because I want one, but at the same time I don't want to buy a supra with no street manners

Welcome to the forum. I had a 78 T/A at one time in my life. I don't think I have any digital pictures. I may have to work on that.

My guess would be a BIG single turbo making 6-800hp? Not too bueno on the street.

Lol, I can imagine so basically if I wanted a supra with good street manners, how much hp could I push out before it becomes overboard on the street???

      I think 550-600 is plenty.

Mine was at 725rwhp and it was just stupid for the streets. Too much lag to make it fun to drive. The triple disk clutch didn't help matters either.

LOL!!! I was thinking that 725 would be alright, but with 2 smaller turbos vs. 1 honking big one, helping out with that whole area under the torque curve.

Inline 6s tend to produce more torque though.

Bad in the sense that the engagement point makes driving it in stop and go traffic somewhat annoying.
