I'd love to get 345/30-19 Pilots under the rear end of my '72 Cutlass but I dont want to narrow the frame. Rolling the fender lip and minor stuff (ie: BFH) are fine. Will I be able to shoe-horn these in? Car is lowered on Hotchkis springs w/stock width 12-bolt. Thanks, James.

No. To run that big a tire will require at least a 19x12 rim. Not sure if a 72 Cutlass has the same room as a 72 Chevelle but the latter can handle a 315 tire on a 11" wide rim.

Bummer, I guess a 315 wouldnt be too bad, they look nice on my Camaro. Is height a concern, I'd like to go with around a 27" tire to fill out the wheelwells a bit more. Might have to break out the tape measure this weekend and see what I'm working with.

If you're concerned about height, nitto makes a 305/45/18. I believe it's a drag radial, but it's still pretty damn wide, and 28" tall.

Wait a minute. You have a 72 Cutlass! :seizure: That will be an awesome project when your finished. Especialy if you are trying to stuff huge tires like that in there. I used to have a 72 Cutlass also. Do you have any pics of yours?
Sorry off topic but I got excited. :seizure:
I just saw the thread with his pics in it. :)

A 315/35/17 is right at 25.7" tall. How about running an 18x10 wheel with a 275/40 tire? That tire is around 27" tall and is very common, being oem on the rear of C5 Corvettes(except the Z06). Another tire choice would be a 295/35/18. It's diameter is around 26.5".

Well, I have a line on a Pilot Sport 335/30-18. Just for the hell of it I'm going to bring it home and stuff it under the car. If nothing else it should look pretty cool. :bananna2:

Absolutely! Must show pics of those when you mock them up under the car. Even if there isnt a wheel, huge meat under the rear of a car is always sick. I dont think I have ever seen a pic of a cutlass with those.

Yeah, whenever I take the tires off the back of my Camaro I swear they are as wide as they are tall, love the look. Not sure if I'll be able to do it tonight but tomorrow for sure pics will be up.
