Lots of guys run manual brakes, including me. It's a matter of taste like most things.

Hydro-boost may also be another option.

I have manual brakes on my 69 Nova. They stop extremely well, but it's still only an interim thing. Eventually I'll have a hydraboost setup.

Nothing wrong with manual brakes, just have to use more muscles to operate them. If you size your master cylinder correctly, you can get the exact same clamping force as a power setup.....

I run a 15/16" bore MC with C6 ZO6 brakes and they work very well, even with my tank of a car.

I went to a manual wilwood on my camaro because my solid lifters make 0 vacc I tryed a electric pump and canister but could not keep up with braking so went manual.
its ok but sucks compared to having a power brake.
if I were to keep it I would install a hydraboost.

I have a 15/16" bore manual MC, with wilwood dynalite calipers and drums in the back with my proportioner almost all the way open. I love the way my brakes feel. I autocrossed my car for the first time yesterday.

My prop valve is also almost all the way open, but I have tiny C4 rear calipers.

Bet my tank is bigger lol.... 7/8 bore MC with 340mm front and 330mm rear C6 Z51 stuff. My pedal ratio is about 6.5:1 though, so that helps alot

I run a Wilwood manual brake setup on my '67, and would say the only problem is then jumping into my wife's car with power brakes and eating the steering wheel at stop lights. Power brakes are much "touchier" after driving a manual setup.

I am running a Front only Wilwood set up for the same reason. (clean firewall/motor compartment). My brakes work great. Make sure you size the master correctly and be sure to get the right length rod. Had to disassemble my set up after install and bench bleed to replace the rod. Enjoy

Love my manual brakes too. I don't like the squishy feel of the power boosted brakes I've driven.

Have Wilwood Superlite fronts and Dynalite rear with the prop valve wide open as well.

What 15/16" manual MC are you guys using? I have Wilwood dynalites on the front of my Chevelle with stock drums in the rear. I tried the 7/8" bore Wilwood MC and the pedal travel was too much and always felt mushy. I went to a 1" OEM/GM/Napa style MC and now it takes too much effort to stop and has a very hard pedal.
The car used to have power brakes, but I removed the booster because of poor vacuum (large cam).

I agree that a 15/16 could be the sweet spot for all around manual brakes. The 7/8 is a little squishy and the 1" is great on the race track with the correct compounds. However, it's not what you're used to on the street. Most factory brakes require you to lay your pinky toe on the brake pedal. I think that's good for ABS and quick reaction. I prefer manual brakes for the track.

Is that a plastic unit with the front/rear fittings reversed? I saw an ad from CPP and think they have a 15/16". May try on of those possibly. I am just sick of changing MCs and bleeding.

It is a cast iron disc/drum unit.
