      brackets for ls1 front discs.

Well i've spent aprx 3 hrs researching ls1 brake swaps. I found loads of awesome info for the rear. im swapping these onto a second gen f-body. I need to know what brackets I need to mount the front abutments to the spindle? I can't seem to find a solid answer on this..

      Thanks!

on a side note.. I wanted c5, but can't find a set at the local yards for a good price, but have sourced some ls1 sets.

Noooo it's different, I know the LS1's require a different bracket, I just don't know the exact difference. Either way, call Tobin and see what he says, I don't believe he sells any brackets for LS1 brakes.

Thanks for thinking of us, but KORE3 doesn't offer any conversion components for the 1998-2002 LS1 F-body brake components...never has. The LS1 and C5/C6 adapter brackets are different due to differences in the rotor offsets, pad abutment mounting hardware size, etc. and as such are not interchangeable, sorry.

Alright, I'll have to pick them up and get some solid files drawn up and make the cnc scream then. I think I came across a few cad files last night of dimensions but I was so overwhelmed with info that I dont remember what I did/or didn't read.

Well everything I read people keep telling people to go to kore3.com.. I'm assuming all these people are misinformed? Looks like the only way to run ls1 front calipers WITHout making your own bracket would be to run a ls1 caliper, c5 abutment, and c5 rotor... correct?

Correct. The LS1 F-body caliper body will interchange with the C5 or C6 units as the pin spacings are the same and all are designed for 32mm thick rotors. Ed at Fly'N'Bye might have something, as could other individuals on various forums, but I can't seem to come up with one off hand.

I think im going to go with c5 fronts with ls1 rears. I'm wanting the ls1 rears because of the parking brake.

That's a good choice. The LS1 rears essentially will be a bolt-on deal, but you'll need to fab a bracket for the e-cable stop. The only diff between the LS1 rear and the C5 rear is a gravity cast caliper vs pressure cast and a non-directionally vaned rotor. Same rotor diameter and thickness. The C5 rear caliper will bolt on in place of the LS1 (on LS1 abutments w/ LS1 pads & rotor) with a possible tweak of the anti-rattle spring should you so desire.

The fronts are kind of a bummer - more or less the same setup as C5, but again the gravity cast vs pressure cast deal - which on a street driven car you'll likely never notice. The C5 stuff is still very reasonably priced and excellent bang-for-buck-wise. Probably not a huge market for LS1 front swap stuff due to C5 being readily available - marginally better - and inexpensive.

That's what I did, works fine. Bought everything from Tobin @ Kore 3, great guy, very helpful.

Thank you for that info. So if I go with the ls1 rear conversion.. Can I later on down the road add the C5 caliper, and use the LS1 rotor, abutment, AND parking brake?

      Is this correct?

Yes - you can keep all of the LS1 rear stuff and just swap in a C5 caliper - it's a bolt on. As I said - there is a possibility that the anti-rattle spring will need a tweak to keep it from rubbing the rotor. That said - i see no real benefit unless it's just for bragging rights, or unless you already have a nice set of C5 rear calipers.

Some really handsome guy did a writeup on the LS1 rear swap over on Team Camaro for his '69 convertible, most or all of which should apply to your 2nd gen. Maybe you've run across it, but if not, here's a link. http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=161383
