Im in the market for new seats and not a big fan of the way some of the after market race/performance seats look. I noticed DSE runs the Recaro Expert/Specialist in almost all their projects with what looks to be a 4point harness.

Anybody run these seats? Are they worth the $ they are double the cost of what most seats are.
My car is a 69 Mustang fb with 90% street driving 10% track.

I have a couple of older OEM BMW or Volkswagen seats that are very similar if not the same model. They are great. Nice low position, awesome bolsters and they don't look all racy and stupid like a lot of the newer seats do. Look for a pair on craigslist or ebay. They seem to come up fairly often. I picked mine up for a couple hundred bucks.

Some of the late model Toyota 2 door sporty cars have some nice seats in them that also work very well in a PT car.

I think they came in the late 80's early 90's cars.

Thanks for the heads up guys. Yesterday I went to a Recaro Dlr about 30 min away he had all the models on display I'm kinda a big guy so the all out race seats or any seat with a lot of side bolster just doesn't feel all the comfortable to me I can't imagine how uncomfortable it would be on a long drive. The one i've narrowed it down to is the Recaro Expert M it has adjustable side bolsters which is nice for different styles of driving and the thigh extenders for those long road trips. http://www.recaro-automotive.com/uploads/pics/expert_leatherblack.jpg

Now where did I put that credit card!

You might also want to look at later model seats from donor cars (local junkyards and Craigslist are great for that). I'm big as well, and after having several seats with larger bolsters, my rear and sides are not too happy. Plus, getting a seat without all those knobs looks better when installed in my opinion

Ok I was going to buy a new pair of Recaro seats until I found these.https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Then 2 days later I found these and picked them up also.

The plan is to use the pair in the first pic because they have thigh extension which make for a little more comfort on those long drives. The 2nd pair I will most likely sell I really have no need for a extra pair of seats.
I found a guy that recovers Recaro seats and does excellent work.

Steve671, in pretty sure that seats vary in cost based on the model of seat, type of material & if you decide to do anything custom.

Are these worth recovering?

Yes if you buy them for LESS than $300.00

These have to be some of the MOST UNCOMFORTABLE SEATS ever made. Just consider that fact!
