Those of you first gen owners, especially vert owners, what "non-original" seats are you using and what tracks??? Or, if you have 2nd gen seats in your car which seat tracks did you use and how is the ride height compared to the original seats???

Here's my problem. I have always liked the 2nd gen T/A Deluxe "horse collar" buckets. I picked up a pair cheap a few years back that needed a rebuild. I finally got around to doing a test fit the last couple of weeks. I cleaned and redid my original 67 seat tracks. They needed some minor adjustment to a few mounting holes but seemed to fit nicely. Untill I sat in them. They sit WAY too high. Fortunately I haven't spent any $$ on rebuilding these seats. The original 75 tracks seem to be a no go also. But I may try and see if I can come up with a method to make them work if they sit lower. So I'm trying to decide what to do seat wise. To me I have three options.

1. Just go with a pair of aftermarket seats like Sparco , Cipher Auto, ...etc ...

2. Find another OEM setup, like a set of 68/69 seats with head rests, that will fit. Without a ton of mods.

3. Find an aftermarket set of seat tracks that have a lower profile than my original 67 tracks so the seats I currently have will work.

Any thoughts, ideas, pics of other seat configurations would be appreciated.

Recaro specialist ,don't waist your time trying to fabricate seats that might fit too tall

Already decided to put the 75 seats up for sale :(. Seriously considering a set of 4th gen T/A sets. May have a lead on a good set from an 01 cheap. But keeping my options open.

I think you will like them. There is a thread on how to install them over on camaros.net
Just search 4th gen seats in 1st gen.

Definitely check the 4th gen T/A seats, but don't do the 4th gen Z28 seats. I put seats from a 2000 Z28 into my '68 and they are MUCH BETTER than the stock low-back seats, but their lateral support is pretty poor. The T/A seats look a lot better. If you can get some cheap and fabricate brackets, go for it! Good luck.

Actually I hope to pick up a set of black cloth 2001 T/A seats at the bus depot later this morning. Drivers is elec pass is manual. Have templates for mounting tabs for the rear mounts ready to go.

I'll take some this morning and post them. Thanks for the reminder.

Here's a pic of how the seat sits. I"ll try and get a pic with me in theseat. I'm like 6-1 and it feels like my head is just nelow the roll bar and I'm looking out the top of the wind shield. Not sure if I like sitting that high. Need to see if I can lower these seats. May have to go back to stock seats. Maybe a set of 69 with head rests.

They are comfortable. They just sit a bit too high for my taste. I'll get a pic of me sitting in the car. Especially in a vert with the shorter windshield. Need to loo at the tracks and see what I can do.

My seats sit pretty normal in my car. I didn't notice any height diff. I did shorten the rear tabs a little
