New Wheels for the Track Toy

After spending alot of time looking for a durable light weight wheel I came across these. They are 2001 Z06 wheels made by Speedline. The fronts are 17x9.5 and weight about 19.5 lbs each and the rears are 18x10.5 and weight about 21.5 lbs. Not bad for $600 bucks.

Going to powder coat them gloss black. Then I need to decide wether I'm going with shaved Ra-1's or Hoosiers.

I ran C5 wheels on my now-sold '68:

You need bolt on wheel adapters - roughly 2" thick - front and rear. The nice thing is that with custom adapters, you can get the backspacing dead on.

For the Z06 wheels, I'm pretty sure the fronts are tough to fit on an unmodified stock subframe, and the rears require a minitub. That said, C5 wheels are a great low cost wheel solution, particularly as a second set of wheels.

SUP Dave!! Funny I was looking at your project updates trying to figure out if you had the magnesium wheels or not. Those are the ones I really wanted but they dont get wider than 9.5" for just the rears. Thought about getting 2 sets of rears but I think its time for some 315's.

The fronts on these wheels are 7 1/2" backspace so I'm going to need a 2" spacer. The rears are 8" so I will need to minitub and add a 1.5" spacer.

What's up! Nah, mine are just painted ZR1's that are chipping really easily. When I had my NT-05's mounted recently, the wheel shop really did a number on them. Yeah, I have 2.5" spacers in the front and about 3/8" I believe in the rear. The front could probably do with an 1/8 or 1/4 taken off the spacer, but it works for now with some minor rubbing.

I like the 255/315 stagger and how it's worked so far. Plus, we've played so much with minimizing rub as it is since the car rides kinda low and I don't wanna ask for more ya know?

If Sac was a tad closer, I probably would stop by! Thanks for the offer though. Those wheels will look great on your car I think bro!

I chose these same wheels for the same reason, wide light and strong. I have 2 sets also and plan to run an agressive treadware and a set with my nto5s. I used custom spindles and A arms in the front and a widened 9" with a mini tub in the back. The car sits +-3.5" off the ground front to rear. Once you get the set up correct, I think you will like them.
