Anyone know of any carbureted vehicles running remote mount turbo's? Or a remote mount turbo? Thanks, Bradley

a guy i know dynoed a 327 small block with an STS kit on it and it made 450 lb ft of torque by 3000 rpm but it blew up shortly after, it was just a tester to see what would happen, the motor was pretty much stock internals.

Worked fine for me!!
Don't know about a remote kit thru a carb, but it should work just fine. It would (I'm relatively sure!) have some considerable lag tho. Unless you got a programmable ignition box that you can keep timing a bit longer before yanking it out. But that is just my opinion.

It wouldn't work any differently than remote mounting on an EFI engine. All the same principles still apply, need boost referenced fuel pressure and a pump that can handle it and a carb that can handle blow through.

Agreed. I was seriously considering a remote mount setup myself. My issue was with the oil pumps to return oil back to the engine. I just didn't think they were reliable enough. Heck, my A1000 fuel pump makes me nervous, too. I hope it doesn't crap out when I'm pushing 15lbs of boost. I just want to keep things as simple as I can.

The A1000 will be fine... Mine has been going for 8 years now.
I hope that didn't just screw me by saying that!! LOL!

Good to now about that A1000. A decade ago when I had my corvette procharged, I used a holley mech pump, boost referenced. That was the norm then, but the mechanical connections just seem more reliable than electronics. I've been stuck on the side of the road due to a bad electric fan connection within months after I installed it. I've had Ford ignition modules strand me. And yes, even the ignition on a LT1 firebird. The only mechanical breakdowns I've had are when I blow something up.

Yeah go over the theturboforums.com and look up Brent Davis, send him a functional dp holley and he can set you up with a blow through ready for boost, if you like doing your own work search for "the crutch" setup. Which basically is a small air pump controlled by rpm switch to activate the boost reference power valve.or look for hangar 18 mods also. hangar18.com
neat part on remote is it doesnt need an intercooler!
