anyone know what the smallest AC compressor i can find is? id like to do a low mount in my duster, down where the fuel pump used to be.
ive looked at all the sanden coversion kits, but they all mount them at the top center of the engine.
this is a small block 70 k-frame car.
id also prefer it to be a factory compressor off of something, so that way i can find replacements down the road. ill fab my own brackets, hoses, etc for this.

look at the sanden compressor that is used on the vintage air front runner system. Catalog page 57, Sanden SD7 compressor, http://www.vintageair.com/catalog.asp Some factory compressors are variable displacement and are not recommended with some aftermarker AC systems. Check on that before purchasing the system/compressor and make sure they will work with each other.

I was always suprised how short the A/C compressors off 80's Chevy Monte Carlo's are:

That is a GM R4 compressor. They were in a trillion applications in various forms

hmm....
ill have to measure the one on my truck. its very similar. i didnt even think about those compressors to be honest. what years had v-belts?

probably anything around & before 1987. Try pre-87 3rd gens.

i need a new compressor in my 77 TA and was thinking of puting a newer more mordern one in there....would one from a newer car like this one work? and would it work better...i want to fabricate something or do something to make my air ice cold....i live in orlando and cant go anywhere without AC.....
