I am ready to install a new 12-bolt rear end in my 68 Camaro with DSE 3" drop multi-leaf springs. For the guys running the DSE springs or similar springs, did you use mounting pads or not. What are the pros and cons of not using mounting pads? Thanks

Sorry Brad. I've been driving all day. I'm in a hotel and can receive email but cannot send. Here's my reply:

Hey Brad,
I have poly pads installed but they are not necessary. They CAN help a little bit to locate the rear on the pins. If you are anxious to put it all together I wouldn't worry about the pads. Or put it together and then loonse the hardware and slide the pads in later. You can do so without much work (Jackstands under frame, remove nuts from U-Bolts, jack rear up 2", slide in pads--Watch your fingers. You don't even have to undo the driveshaft).

Thanks for the info Steve. No need to apologize. I still have to get new lower shock mounts so it souds like I might as well get the poly pads at the same time.

I havent used pads in any of my builds in the past 15 years or so..... I guess I have just stuck to that idea from the get go.

it mainly for the reduction of NVH. I don't use them anymore either.
