I'm about to take the voyage of driving my car from coastal Georgia to the DFW area in Texas. This is my "getting out of the Navy" drive home. I know I need to get the front aligned, trans fluid replaced, drive shaft balanced, oil changed, tranny fluid overflow canister made. Can anyone think of anything that should be addressed? I'm super siked out and my dad will be joining me. This should be fun!!

Not a bad idea...
But more importantly especially now... A/C charged. I dont know about coastal GA but here in DFW we've had some killer heat lately.
Oh... and welcome home. We still need to establish a strong PT community here.

How long since it's been driven last?

I would also check stuff like the lights, wiper blades (see if the wipers themselves still work), and check the condition of the brakes (including the lines). I look at a long drive just like taking the car to the track, nut and bolt everything. Better safe than sorry.
+2 on the AAA roadside plus.

I drive the car daily so the a/c is nice and ice cold. The whole braking system is only about 2 years old and was recently bleed. All the suspension will be gone over to ensure tightness and be greased. All lights work, except low beams (some kind of short).

I'm thinking of running something like this for my trans vent. The C4's have a tendency to puke fluid out of the vent so I plan to run a vented trap tank and mount it up on the firewall. Any ideas?

I've been thinking of building something similar for my PCV system using a Venom energy drink bottle (nice solid aluminum bottle), a breather like that, and a petcock from the hardware store. But that's me being cheap.

if you daily drive the car then change the oil and make sure you have a spare.

Im crazy, but after my cars have sat for any extended period, i always pull the plugs and check them after firing the car and letting it run for about 1/2 hour.

Well, I fixed some of those odds and ends stuff that has been bothering me for years and it only took like an hour. Low beam wire was pinched under a fender nut causing a short (fixed), the horns sounded like a dying cow so I bought a new hi side horn (fixed), my cheapy Sunpro temp gauge has been broken, bought a new one (fixed). I also had a nail in my pass front tire (fixed). I checked all my front suspension while I had it up in the air. All seems tight and clean.

Make sure you pee before you leave the house.

Check and/or change gear lube in rearend. It will get way hot on an extended trip if the lube is old and thin.

sounds like there is nothing left to do other than hit the road.

I may get new rear tires, it needs an alignment (twitchy at speed) and possible drive shaft balance. I think everything else is good. I'm ready to roll.
