I just got the ATS spindles on my car. When I go to bolt on the steering arms I'm getting a lot of resistance with the bolt shank going through the arms. I can tap them in, but it seems they're tight enough that they would not turn easily. Am I missing something? Also, in the directions off ATS' website it says "Note that there are two
different length steer arm bolts with the longer of the two used in the rear." All 4 bolts I have are the same size. Anyone else experience any if these issues?

At least you got bolts with yours. Mine came with none. What a PITA, I have no idea what sizes are needed.

It says H-K USA 1/2-20 on my bolt heads--hope that helps.

Thats good that they are tight. Various bolts have some thickness added due to the coating.

Are the arms steel or aluminum? If they are aluminum the anodizing may be causing the tightness. But more likely its the coating on the bolt.

It may just take a quick swipe with some 220 grit sandpaper on the smooth shank of the bolt to knock down any rough spots on the coating. Knock down the rough coating (black oxide coating can be rough) a lil and lube the shank up with oil. It will prolly turn just fine. You want the shank of the bolt TIGHT in the bore of the arm. They did a good job if its tight. The bolt shank just needs to be polished up a lil. JR

all you have to do is call.
the bolts should be 1/2 x 2.5 and 2.75 NF socket head cap screws.with slim line locking nuts.
i don't know whae you ordered yours Don but all the spindles "Should" come with bolts. if you ordered the steering arms seperatly they would not have come with hardware.

currently we zinc plate the bolts,(i see yours are not) and that combined with the anodizing will cause a tigth fit. but that is good.

call if you have an issue

Blake, my spindles and arms were shipped just before the Speedtech buyout and as such I am pretty much on my own.

Don

Now that right there will bring in new customers. Until I read this thread, I wasn't aware of Speed Tech Performance but I am now! I have a set of ATS spindles and steering arms I bought from Tyson just before he closed the doors so I'd have them when I wanted them not knowing they would be available through other dealers. Anyway, I think I might need some hardware as well. Now that I know there's a good source for hardware, I feel better. Thanks!

Speedtech's website does still list the AFX spindles and the steering arms, at least for Chevelles.

Speedtech only has A body arms. They never made F body arms.
