How come it looks like the tire has to stretch to reach the rim? Like it needs a narrower rim or wider tire. Or is it supposed to look that way?

Really??? Whats up with the tires? You know they arent right,,,,, Right? I like the wheels. But when are you gonna get some tires. Those tires are shot for that wheel. JR

Pretty sure he meant to do this, it is quite popular in the import scene......... at least this isn't as bad as the idiots running 195s on a 10.5 rim.

I've seen this quite a few times even on newer corvettes. Not sure as to why, does kinda make the wheel look bigger.. What's your plans for covering half that tire up? Lol, wheels look killer though.

i have had to explain this to everyone who has seen them .
i wanted a smaller tire to tuck under the car , if i were to run a big fat bulky tire it would be impossible to get the stance im looking for .
it does have a strech and thats exactly what i was looking for .
car is at the chassis getting a full back half and cage work and ill have pictures of it soon to clear everyone up ..
its all going to be about the stance and the fender and lip of the rim will be verrrrrry close ..
and it does also make the rims look bigger . not that it needed it .
the car will never go fast with these rims on it .. just the street set . so having a gigantic side wall for traction is not needed .
thanks guys ill have them mocked up in the body after everything is hacked out of the rear end .

if this was a a classic muscle car then i would agree 1000x on the huge tires maybe a 32x22 or sumthing of that size .
but no matter what i do or stick in the car its still a import ..lol..

You can buy tires that fit the rim that dont have a huge sidewall without stretching a tire out like that. You can buy tires that have a very thin wall, not a balloon tire. Your tire is UNSAFE and not good for even street use.
And it just looks bad..... Not, "good bad", but not good, bad. JR

can you show me a regular size tire that will fit the rim . and exactly why is it unsafe ?
have you never seen a drift car (500+rwhp) controling a 100+mph power slide next to a concrete wall and not crashing or having a tire go WITH ALOT BIGGER STRECH :smoke:
but honestly if you can find me a very thin sidewall tire than will fit a 20x15 and not be streched let me knw . thanks
the whole car will prob look bad (not a good Bad either) and probably be verry unsafe even for street use .. so maybe the rims and tire combo fit the rest of the project.:)

Wheels look sweet, I'd be afraid of running those tires on the street though, due to potholes chewing away at the lips, or worse, peeling a tire bead and losing control in a bad spot. Just make sure you keep the PSI in a range you consider safe to avoid that potential.
I completely understand that the 'look' is in the eye of the beholder though.
No hating
Thinking aloud here. Why were 1" narrower wheels out of the question? Benefits are: no stretch, more clearance, and less weight. Down side: doesn't fit the "tuner trend".....but neither does the rest of the car.
It sounds like a sick build, but to me this one detail is more for looks than functionality. I'd hate to see the entire build follow that lead. But, continue on as you please. It is, after all, your car.

LOL!!
Are you serious? How is that unsafe? Tons of people do this, and I've seen a LOT more of a stretch than that. Just because it's not your style doesn't make it unsafe.

I can't wait to see these mounted.
Kinda funny how some would look at the combo as a conservative stretch and some would think it was a rediculous stretch. You know how opinions are. Don't tell any one, but I am working on fitting my Camaro. I just love that Boso flavor!

Very well put. Hector, YOU got what YOU wanted, and that's the most important thing, and on an import, your set up is going to work well. If it were a back halved Chevelle or Camaro or something, than it would be a different story. I think everyone should agree to disagree about whether or not he or she likes it, and be happy that Hector got what he wanted.
Word.

Damn skippy Jon, different strokes for different folks. People need to be more open minded to other build styles. So like most other wheels threads on here where someone gets new wheels for their car... Congrats Hector now hurry up and get some mounted pics and show them beauties.

stance is still not right just yet but these will be a few teasers till i get the rear end housing and rest of the cutting done . this is how they fit with only width wise cutting . nothing height wise has been touched . more pics early next week ,, i for one am super satisfied with the way it looks even now . :)

Killer!! I love the look myself.
I've had a slight tiff with a few people on lateral-g about wheel choices, people tend to forget that design is opinion based, as long as the owner likes it, who cares? lol
The stretched look has been around for a few years, even in the hot rod industry, check this Ford out...I seen it at Pittsburgh WOWs show a few years ago....I might use the look for my Olds. ha

Any experience of the hook of the Sportsman S/R?
I am highly interested in them but have been told ther performance suck.
Altough I wonder how such a wide tire can suck when it comes to traction, even if it is not the suuuuuuuuper soft compound.
And Mickey Thompson is a good name in the Drag Racing-Sport, isīnt it?
