I'm putting a one-way diode on my coil. I need to know if a 6 amp diode is large enough. If not, I can put two in parallel.

I tested an HEI and it drew around 5 amps at low speed but got near 10 amps at higher rpm's. What's the diode for???

I have a lot of noise in the electrical system that is caused by the ignition system. It is interfering with the low speed operation of my Autometer speedo. I plan on putting EZ-EFI in the car in a week or two so I need to do something with this circuit. Unhook the tach and the speedo works great.
I hoping the diodes will help. Cooper/Bussmann makes mini-fuse format diodes in 3 and 6 amp ratings. I'll put two 6 amps in parallel. That should be sufficient. Plus, if one goes bad, I'll have a backup.
I don't think the diodes are going to help with that. Try isolating the grounds for the tach and the speedo.

That's a good idea. They do share a comon ground.
