what wheels for a 62 impala 2 dr

      Hey Guys,

So i just picked up a totally stock 62 impala and the 14" wheels are just not doing it for me.

Plans are disc brakes and to lower it, other than that it's staying stock. It's Maroon with a white top.

Any suggestions for wheels? Was thinking of a 19/20 combo or 20/22 combo?

Talk to Jon @ Driverz, he used to have a '62 Impala. I am sure he will be able to help you out because he will already know what works and what doesn't.

My 62 first had 19/20s on it, and I loved it. Then, I got greedy, and stupid, and put 20s/22s on it, and it looked bitchin, but road like hell and I dented two wheels on the freeway.

I would suggest running a 19x8 up front, and 20x10 in the rear, so long as you have moved the rear exhaust out of the wheel well.
This is when she had 19s/20s, and lowered with springs:

This is what she looked like on 20/22s, air ride, and small tires:

This is just a hot picture:

As for what wheel I would recommend. I think the NewGen Decenio, in all polished sounds like the right wheel with the right finish to match your color combo on your car. That's me though....

And the Nitto ad they ran for like a year and a half with my Impala... pretty cool.

      new Gens

      Jon,

Yeah, I search brought up pics of your car and it looks SICK....

I recently purchased the Black Rushforth 19x8 and 20x10 Strutters from Johnny T's bitchen tempest and was contemplating putting those on but I think i'll keep those for the Chevelle.

Can you pm me a quote for your 19/20 Decenios with mounted tires.

      Thank you

We've got a lot of different styles that would look great. I personally like a 20/22 combo on those cars. If you have any questions just let me know.

Boesch, what do you recomend for cleaning the satin finish on the Twisted Vista's? Are you making Intro steering wheels again yet?

I'm diggin' this look for both the '61 and '62 Chevy.

Wide whites with flipper caps all the way, this '61 Ventura is definitely one bad ride.

If they get really dirty (beyond what soap and water will take care of) brake cleaner works well to clean the satin suede areas.

Didn't see the steering wheel question the first time. Yes we are making Intro Steering wheels and they are available for order.

Here are some samples of classic styles we have at bonspeed. All of these would look great on your '62. 20s/22s definitely look great, but could have some driveability issues, all depends on how far you're willing to push it to get 'the look'.

Give us a call or PM with any questions or if you need a quote.

you mentioned you wanted to lower the car. how low? and are you going to air ride? do you plan on autocrossing it? how big of brakes are you going to run?have 20x 8.5 and 20x9 on my 63 belair and if i push it hard in an autocross they will rub slightly in the front. choose carefully the choice of tire and wheel make or break the car.but as far as your comment of leaving the rest of the car stock? don't be shy make it the way you want it then drive the hell out of it.

When did the B bodies go to a 5x5 bolt circle wheel? Was it the mid-70's? I think your 65 Impala still uses a 5x4.75 wheel.
