Cool, so that threads in where the fill plug does? I'll be curious to see what people have to say.

Thanks for the heads ups. It's on my car now, but I won't be driveable until Spring. I'll be sure to keep an eye on it.

Old post - I know. But...
Had no problem installing this last year. Now that the car has been on the road I find that this think spits oil all over the place. It's coming off.

The only solution is to get it vented up into the trunk, especially if the car is lowered.

Not sure if this confilcts with your post, but Art Morrision makes a puke can that mounts on the floor or trunk pan above the pumpkin. I've never seen anyone use this and I'll look for the link, but I am considering this as an option.

This is what I have been using for the infamous spitting, it took several failed concepts before I went to the trunk. In a previous comment, he is correct, if you are lower than stock there is no room underneath, at least on an A-body. For reference I am running a 9" with Tru-Trac.

The puke can in the trunk is the best solution. I went through this type of vent, as well as the sintered bronze type, on a 4th Gen F-body I used to have. Both puked gear lube constantly.

I used one of these:

Think it'll leak? it's what GM uses for tranny & axle vents.

Tommy, I used that in my El Camino, no problems in street and autocross use. I didn't do any track days, so I don't know how it would do there.

I don't have room for a hose fitting on my housing due to the location of a mount bracket. I needed a very low profile vent. I found a stainless steel porous metal on McMaster-Carr item #4456K12. We'll see how it works. If not I will need to weld up the hole and move the vent to the other side of the center section.

This is what I am using on my 8.8. Have it mounted high on the rear 4-link cradle.

Nice kit with quality billet mount. I will have to wait until it is on the road to see how well it works.

What thread/nipple size do I need coming out of the axle tube? Right now I just have an empty hole.

As stated above, you could have either 1/8" NPT or 1/4" NPT.
