I rarely even see them on the road anymore. I would love to find a solid IROC-Z Coupe 350 standard that needed some TLC, even a roller with a solid body. I love the looks and even in factory trim I felt like they stuck to the road pretty good.
That specific car never existed. It was impossible to get a 350 with a manual trans from the factory. Swapping a bigger motor into a 305 car that was a manual or swapping a manual into a 350 car isn't that hard though. LS swaps are getting much easier to do now too.

The outside of Austin's ICE9 car is out standing! I just don't like the full blown race interior.
our cars have an interior that leaves a bad taste, that screams 80's! 1st and 2nd gens have a definite era but they are more timeless in the flow. then there is the 3rd gen, the designer must have been pissed at GM and only used a strait edge.
I piked up a 04 GTO dash and consul. I still toss the idea of a cage, I just don't know if I could tuck it in tight enough.

Here is the 1989 Camaro RS the wife and I bought new, just sold it last year. It was an RS 305/5-speed and over the 20+ years we owned it it received 2 more engines and transmissions, 6 paint jobs, 3 different suspension set-ups, and tons of other little bits & pieces. As sold it was finally a really nice driving car but it took years to get there!! I stuck with OEM wheels after I removed the big brake package I made from C5 Corvette parts.

Here is an awesome one that was being built on thirdgen.org but apparently something happened and it was dismantled...

saw this car and got a stiffy...
Has this question been answered yet? I'm thinking the cars are just not cool enough yet. 2nd gens went through a similar phase of "unworthy" until they aged and became cool. With time 3rds will get there. I gotta believe now is the time to buy and sit on these cars.

Considering how cheap and plentiful 3rd gen's and their parts are I'd like to see more built as Road Race cars.

Hello Everyone,
I thought I would share one of our 3rd gen builds on this thread as well. We did this car this spring, it was a time stressed car and was built in a 4 month period. The car is owned by Chris and Mark Houser, Chris is our Marketing and Advertising director here and Mark is the General Manager of our shop. The car was Chris's first car and she bought it back in 1986, she sold it and bought it back a few years ago. More pictures can be found on our Facebook page in the link below.
Thanks for looking!

Thanks! We still have some adjusting to do on the hood. We have it fitting a little better now but it still needs some tweaking. We are waiting on the body guy to free up to work with it a little. We will also be doing a photo shoot with it this spring, I will post those pictures as well.

Yeah the "turbo" hood is not well liked amongst most hardcore 3rd geners!
I want a stock style IROC hood that will use the louvers in fiberglass, don't think anyone makes one though. I would replace my Jongblod hood for one.

Looks like the car is shod with Nitto NT01's. If that is the case, the tires are on correctly. There isn't a directional tread pattern on them just inside and outside.

Here are pictures of my new 1992 California Highway Patrol EVOC Camaro #892921. The car spent 18 years at the CHP Academy in Sacramento. The car has 32K original miles. The car has had numerous engines, several transmissions and rear-ends when in EVOC service at the academy. The car was primered by the CHP for use as a "rabbit" car after EVOC service at the academy. The car was equipped with a full cage, Simpson belts and more. The car was never a street patrol car.
Below is a CHP produced video in which my Camaro is the lead car and only Camaro in the video. The stars of the video are the Mustangs. I also owned the Camera car Mustang in the video that some of you may have seen at the Pigeon Forge events. This video shows how this Camaro spent its entire Police In-Service life!!

I guess had a Pro Touring car before I had ever heard of the term. I built this car in 2000. It was an '89 RS that ended up getting a transplanted 327 with ported fuelie heads, with an old Crane Compucam, a 454 TBI 2" throttle body, custom burned PROM, headers and Flowmaster cat back. It had 17 X 9.5 and 17 X 12 three piece SEC racing wheels, with 335/35 ZR17 Michelin Pilots on the rear and 275/40 ZR17's on front. I am machinist, and I fabricated offset lower control arms (the 335's rubbed the LCA), panhard bar, torque arm, and strut tower brace and built a pair of LCA relocation brackets for that car. It had Bilstein struts and shocks, and Hotchkis springs. It is still by far the best handling car I've ever had. I wish I had never sold it. We had a house fire in 2010, and I lost all of my past project pics. Here's two that I was able to find that I posted on thirdgen.org back in like 2001. I had tons of pics documenting the build. The rear shots of the car looked awesome with those 335's. It took quite a bit of motivation to fit them. The inner wheelwell was heavily massaged, and the I flared the quarter panel almost an inch, but not one person that saw the car ever noticed it. I built a big snatch hammer with a hook that fit perfectly in the inner wheel lip and slowly tapped it out. It turned out really nice. Its amazing the stuff I'd try when I was in my 20's and no wife and kids to support! -lol

After I little digging, I found some rear shots on my old thirdgen account. This car also ended up with a SS hood. I was going to paint it silver (I photoshopped waht it would look like) and put '91-92 ground effects, but I got married and I ended up selling it around 2003.
After seeing these for the firt time years, I really miss it now! :nopity:
EDIT: The pics where the car appears lighter were after I put the Hotchkis springs and Bilsteins on it. They stopped makig those wheels probably 10 years ago. They were 3 peice and came bolted together with stainless ARP 12 point headed bolts They were $379 for the fronts and $399 for the rears 13 years ago. I had more than I care to admit in those tires and wheels, but I loved them.

After I started driving it one injector went bad so instead of spending money on 305 I decided to put new drivetrain in. Put in 4th gen rear, .99 LS1, and trans. I have taken old engine out bought new K-member put new engine & trans in for mock up. Also ordered Baer brakes for front. They should be here this week wiring harness the following week and should have it running the following week, (fingers crossed). When I get it finished I'll try to post pictures of the whole process. Wish me luck! Thanks

Brandon, it's actually fairly easy to explain some of the interest in 3rd gens now. The guys who owned them when the cars were new are now old enough to have the disposable income to go looking for their first car and then modify it they way they wished they could when they were younger and in possession of far less disposable income. Couple that with the rising costs of 1st and 2nd gens and you have a combination where lots of people are starting to build 3rd gens. At least that's part of the excuse I'm using for what I'm doing to mine. ;-)

About 2 months ago this 1983 L69 Camaro Z/28 came across the scale at a scrap yard near Grand Rapids Michigan. The car was almost totally complete and was brought there by the owner of almost 15 years. The Camaro had "GSS" graphics on the side of the car. A friend of mine got a call from the salvage yard about the car and could not believe that a Camaro this complete would come across the scale as junk. He was able to purchase the car complete from the Salvage yard.
Through his initial research he thought the car was a 1983 Guldstrand GSS Camaro and I agreed. The car still retained the "By Berger" sticker on the back of the car. Research through Guldstrand and Guldstrand personally yielded information that the Guldstrand remembered selling one GSS Camaro to Berger Chevrolet. I thought this must be that car. We found a Hot Rod article about the GSS Camaro's from 1982 and a "Shootout" test with GSS Camaro, a Maire Racing Mustang, a Herb Adams Trans Am and the Quikor Suspension Capri. The Guldstrand GSS Camaro won the shootout! My friend who purchased the car from the salvage yard said he did not have time or money to restore the car and I ultimately purchased the car believing it to be a Guldstrand GSS Camaro.
After receiving the car I began to dig deeper into the history of the car. Working with Joe Freeman at Gulstrand, Guldstrand and Jacques at Berger Chevrolet I was able to determine the history and provenance of this 1983 Berger Built GSS Camaro. Jacques showed the pictures of the car to Matt Berger of Berger Chevrolet who was able to tell me the "Rest Of The Story" behind this Camaro!
Yesterday I received this email from Matt Berger detailing the history of the car when new at Berger Chevrolet:
"Michael,
That car is the first vehicle I built for myself in the early 1980’s while my father was on vacation. I had found out through the grape vine that Chevy was building a new engine for the late 1983 model Z/28. The cross-fire looked cool but was very underpowered. The 5.0 Liter H.O. was a huge step up and we ordered a dozen in the spring of 1983. Sometime subsequent to receiving the cars we read that a Camaro had won the 24 Hours of Nelson Ledges which was a showroom stock road race in Ohio. After doing a little research we uncovered that the chassis work on that vehicle was done by Guldstrand. Jacques was a former employee a famous muscle car dealer Dana Chevrolet in California (as was Dale Armstrong, Kenny Bernstein’s Crew Chief for his Budweiser King Funny Cars) and a nationally known Corvette professional road racer from the 1960’s. We wanted to replicate for the street what Guldstrand was doing for the race cars. To that end the dealership installed lowering springs in the front, cut the rear springs, installed Bilstein dampers on all 4 corners, urethane bushings on front lower control arms, rear trailing arms, Guldstrand's trick panhard bar and some sway bar bushings. The finishing touch was a set of 245/60 x 15” Goodyear GT radials on BBS looking Epsilon wheels. We added the better speedo because if memory serves the stocker only went to 80 MPH. This was a pretty uncivilized package for a street car but great at the track. I remember as a young kid taking it out to the road course at Grattan, Mi. for my first road racing experience. The local Alfa and Porsche clubs were hosting a track day event and we thought we would give it a whirl. After technical inspection, I was approached by a few members who informed me my Camaro wouldn’t be competitive with the Stuttgart specials. They didn’t know what the car was but were soon to learn. It was a terrific day. It was faster than almost all of the vehicles in attendance. I totally killed a set of both tires and brake pads that afternoon but we were fast! We sold the car in the fall of that year but didn’t retain any of those records. I can tell by the color, trim and components that this is my old car. If you get it restored I would love to see the finished version. Good luck with your project.
Best Regards,
Matt Berger"
I especially like the part where Mr. Berger says the car was built while his dad was on vacation. Hard to believe that this Camaro came across the scale with those expensive and hard to find 3 piece Epsilon wheels still on the car! Below are pictures of the car at the salvage yard and dirty at my shop. I have since cleaned all the dirt off the car and will be adding additional pictures to the album later today when the rain stops.
Here is an update from Matt Berger concerning the car and his answer to several questions I had asked of him:
"Mike,
The GSS decals came with some of the parts. We aren’t big sticker fans but they matched the factory stripes on the car and differentiated it slightly so we went with them. I didn’t do an engine swap. Dad would have been too PO’d so I drove it with the L69. The crate motor would have been a big upgrade compared to what it came with. The issues with that particular powertrain get a little dicey after about 300 ft. lbs. of torque. The weakest link was the rear end followed by 5th gear in the T5 transmission. I built a 91 1LE with one of John Lingenfelter’s stroker motors and a box plenum. It was about 420 HP and 460 TQ. It had the exact same powertrain and I had to replace the clutch, trans and rear-end ($10,000) to make it live. Hope this helps.
Best Regards,
Matt Berger"
Soap, Water & A Pressure Washer!!!!
Here are pictures of the "Berger GSS Camaro" NOW after a couple of hours of pressure washing, cleaning and vacuuming. Quite a difference from the photo album I posted in my first post. Check em both out!
I have also acquired from the JY much of the missing A/C parts and other under-hood parts. The GS air cleaner is on the car to keep the water out of the engine. The spare tire has never been on the ground and the jack never removed from the car. The dash pad is perfect as is the console and console armrest. The seats are from another car. The door panels are super along with the armrests. The carpet ain't bad either. I tried a little polish on one of the Epsilon wheels and they will polish quite nicely thank you! Under the hood I was able to remove a lot of the silver paint someone had sprayed on the firewall and shock towers. Next up is to pull the engine/transmission. I expect to purchase a correct transmission and parts this weekend along with the correct air cleaner and other parts. While out check the engine, detail and more.
Pretty amazing how the car looks now considering that just 6 weeks ago rolled this car rolled across the scale AS SCRAP in Michigan!
More interesting information on this salvage yard survivor Berger Camaro!
Another "Berger Camaro" from a different era!

That is an incredible story! I just recently saw one on ebay looking about the same condition as your was... possibly the same one? I can't believe all that good stuff on the car and was gonna hit the crusher. I'm restoring a set of 17x9.5 Epsilon mesh wheels right now... those things are worth a mint! HAHA. Love to see the progress of the restoration.
I actually thought of you/your B4C, recently as I was attempting to buy my buddies CSP 91 B4C cop car.

Really cool story you have there. Would you mind if I posted this on our Michigan F-body site, or perhaps you could join and post it there. We have some real Berger nuts around here in the Camaro club and I know they would love to hear this story.

I've made a few changes to my 89 GTA lately. I put a LS1/t56 in it a couple years ago. I recently lowered it with Eibach springs and Koni shocks and struts, and put C6 wheels on it. I bought some factory take off wheels that were painted silver, so I spray painted them this charcoal color with some rattle can wheel paint. I tinted the windows but screwed it up so when my new tint roll shows up I'll re-do it.

Dude!! That is awesome!!! I live in GR...Matt is a hell of a nice guy. Berger sponsors our club (Western Michigan Camaro Club)
Really cool story you have there. Would you mind if I posted this on our Michigan F-body site, or perhaps you could join and post it there. We have some real Berger nuts around here in the Camaro club and I know they would love to hear this story.
Please post anything you want.
Today July 4th I just removed the completely "Stuck" engine & transmission from the GSS There must have been 2 gallons of water in the engine and I do NOT mean in the cooling system. The body is actually not to bad all especially considering the car lived its entire life in Michigan! There is some rust but not bad at all and not structural.
I have already purchased 2 parts cars. One of the parts cars has all the correct 5 speed transmission and parts needed for the GSS. Ironically both parts cars are absolutely rust-fee & better cars than the GSS however that's the way it goes! One of the parts cars is an original paint 82 Z/28 with a beautiful dark blue interior and a nice SMC hood. The other parts car is a complete 87 Trans Am that's loaded. I guess I now the TPI king as all of a sudden I have 3 complete TPI engines. 2-305's and on 350. If anybody needs some good 3rd Gen F body parts just let me know!
At this point the Berger show in August is on my calender and I plan to attend with the car. Matt Berger has extended an invitation to the show along with the Pres of the Michigan Camaro club. I cannot say if the car will be running or not but what the Hell you have to have a goal!

I'd love to run a 3rd gen!! Alot of nice 3rd gens on here!! I've been toying with the idea of selling my 68 bird to pick up another 3rd gen. I had an 82 camaro and an 85 firebird, both had the V6 but I really loved those cars. unfortunately, the 82 was totalled and I ditched the 85 when I bought the 68. I'd really love to grab an IROC, but good ones with a standard are tough to come by, and whey you do find one they are out of my price range.

About 2 months ago this 1983 L69 Camaro Z/28 came across the scale at a scrap yard near Grand Rapids Michigan. The car was almost totally complete and was brought there by the owner of almost 15 years. The Camaro had "GSS" graphics on the side of the car. A friend of mine got a call from the salvage yard about the car and could not believe that a Camaro this complete would come across the scale as junk......
It's amazing how someone could own a special vehicle like that and have no clue as to it's uniqueness! His loss, your gain!!!
Great story and I remember that car myself! I was 16 at the time that article came out and a huge fan of Guldstrand and Adams cars. Hot Rod, PHR, and Car Craft were all doing the "cornering" thing, since power was so hard to find in newer cars, so that's probably what made me delve deep into pro-solo later on.
Great find, great car, I can't wait to see how it turns out!!!

I would be happy to trade you my 1990 IROC convertible (sorry, it's an automatic) for your 68 any day of the week.
But I know what you mean about manual transmission cars being hard to find. Converting to a T56 is well documented on www.thirdgen.org though so that is always an option for you. And if you're thinking LS swap for the motor, there's really no reason not to buy a V6 car and set it up the way you want it. There are plenty of aftermarket parts that will make it handle better than a factory stock IROC.

I bought the car from landen in ohio mostly complete (ran and drove). I had to do a lot of work on making it a more reliable "finished" car. But everything is working good now. Trying to get in for some more tuning and dyno runs to make sure all is in order but I did put 1000km on it this summer.
I imported the car into Canada and it splits its time between Vancouver Island, BC and Edmonton, AB.

Define newer style dash? There are plenty of writeups on www.thirdgen.org on how to put the dash from a 4th gen in one. There are also plenty of options for aftermarket gauge sets.

Go to ThirdGen.org (http://www.thirdgen.org) and search in the forums. There are detailed instructions as to what it takes to put the dash from a 4th gen into a 3rd gen. If you want aftermarket gauges, you'll have to look at options for how to do it and might end up fabricating the panel yourself.

At least in this thread... probably not gonna get nearly as many votes for the javelin.
The thirdgen will out handle the Javelin in stock form, and most likely will whip it in a straight line depending what year/engine combo you get. All depends on what end result your looking for... You want people to ask what kind of car your is... Get the javelin LOL

Been talking with Joe @ Eddies Motorsport (Billet goodies), and it looks like they are gonna start working on a set of billet hood hinges for our cars. Both Joe and the owner have thirdgens and are excited to get something going, so excited that since my first email, they have removed the set from one of their cars and will be starting to do some initial R&D.
I'm sending some pics of the custom made set I have for their own reference and notes about what I dislike about mine.
If there is any of you with any interest in a set in the future you should take a minute and drop an email, so they know others are out there and have interest.
[email protected] They will be trying to keep the price in the neighborhood of $400-$450, so that is not bad compared to some of the other models hinges out there.

buahahahahahaha! 'pro-touring' is more or less how the car is used. older cars ..cant.. so they are upgraded to be able to do the things associated with it. third gens handle 'well' but can still use a good bit of help. especially with brakes and chassis.
ed1le
12-18-2013, 12:34 PM
If too new, that would include other cars then like G-bodies and newer mustangs. Like just stated, still plenty of areas for the 3rd gens to be updated. They may be "newer", but the last year is still now 24 model years old! Plus with continuous advancements in performance technology, it makes the stock components seem that much more dated. Unlike older a-bodies, g-bodies and other platforms, the f-body has always been more of a sports car which makes for a great staring point for a "pro-touring" car.

Everybody has their own opinions, but the bottom line is, there are no universal truths that I have seen that defines what can and can't be used for "Pro-Touring".

Regrets: not going 18" - was afraid it would be too rough, & not getting Konis(yellows)- same reason, when I had the chance (They were cheaper than the bilstiens at the time)
Sounds like a really nice car man. That 88 grey metallic was such a great color. If your gonna re-hoop the wheels you should go with a 18" on a stepped lip wheel. They should be able to still use your centers. I'm running your a Baer Pro kit because when I ordered mine they didn't offer a mono-block caliper, so I'm looking for a caliper upgrade as well.
Post more as you complete more off the list man.

There's a big difference between the fabrication they do on one of their own cars to make things fit and an agreement to work with DSE on making parts specific to our cars. I hope they do join up with DSE to do this but I wouldn't rely on that thread as a source to support that hope.

I'm not using that thread as a conclusion that it will happen as cool as it will be. One of my parts suppliers just ordered a mini tub kit for his 69 and was shooting the breeze and asked about it for his 91 GTA, and they told him that its a possibility and they are currently working with a local shop that specialized in those cars on some stuff... It may not be reality. It may not be for a while. But someone over there knows something about 3rd gens. As I said RUMORS ;) That I hope come true!
Why are there not more 3rd gen camaros representing?

That would be sick, or even if you get them to speed up the process on the coil over kit that your supposedly working on. One of the guys I think in R&D @ Ridetech is building a Camaro with Z06 suspension and turbo LS. You guys need to have a talk about us third genners at the next company meeting :)

It's been quite a while but at one time DSE was looking for 3rd gens to use as development mules. The last contact I had with them I was advised that parts would be coming in the future. Since that time the DSE pushed out the aluminum front suspension for the mustang, maybe it's our turn for some love!!

If someone is wanting an easy 3rd gen project car, you can't beat mine! $4000 with all the new stuff, all you need to do is finish putting it together, and an engine and roll!
But, alas, noone looking for a 3rd gen wants to spend that kind of cash upfront, but instead, will buy a $400 shell, and spend 10K to get it to where mine is.
Oh well, I am going to set a sale deadline, and if it doesn't go, I'll finish it. But I really want to get another truck. Won't happen as long as there are 2 Camaros in my garage.
It is encouraging to here others say nice things about mine, and does make me want to see it through.
In my 'hood there arn't really any nice 3rd gens, so that is a bonus too!

You hit the nail on the head. That seems common everywhere. That's my biggest gripe with alot of the guys over on TGO. It's almost predictable when someone starts a big project how it will end up.
It seems as most of those types are moving on to 4th gens lately, which is awesome. I think within another 7-10 years the only examples of 3rd gens you will see left are exceptionally clean stock cars or really well built modified cars. Most of the T.P. guys will have moved onto the 4th gen cars due to availability and price.

Man here in CO we have both sides of the coin, but I see a ton of internet cowboys doing cheap ass stuff, after listing $20k of things their build will include. This will Happen, and Im getting the drawing to drive me to finish all my other projects.. Plus they will fund when I sell one of them(GTO)... Im hoping rumors are true about a DSE set up for this.. as it will be bought ASAP..and even more reinforce my need to get going on it..
This might help get your juices flowing...

Big thanks to guys like James (LS1-IROC) for stepping up the build quality, and building functional, classy third gens to help open the eyes of manufactures that there is a market for our cars.
You are making me blush..;-) Thanks

So, Im waiting on the rendering, and I have the wife convinced, I have to sell either the 66 GTO or the 75 Trans Am I just finished.. NO PROBLEM :) Im starting to collect my wish list..Im trying to figure out, has anyone every developed a K member with POWER rack and pinion?? Im going to drop in a super charged LS7 with a T56.. and I really want a tubular K with Rack and PInion.. any help or pointers would be helpful.. also, any knowledge of mini tubbing for a 335x18 rear tire.. Ohh I also have to sell my 2011 GT500, says the wife... its 664 RWHP GT500, so the car I build has to be faster :) This will be my Daily-ish driver..

Most of the companies that sell the tubular Kmembers offer pinto rack conversions, but none of the racks I have seen would be good for turning, as most lose turning radius. There was a guy that built a pretty nasty 91 Z28, and if I remember correctly he used a Racecraft Kmember and had custom mounts built onto this kmember and used a Mid 90's vintage Tbird rack to keep steering geometry, with custom hoses. There is a member here (abowman) that currently owns that car, and may be parting it or selling the whole car (I almost worked a trade on it with my 1992 convertible), He might be able to give you some more detailed info on this steering conversion?
The mini tub "kits" seem to be more of a fab your own type thing with your choice of who's rear coil over kit your gonna use. I know there has been many guys using drag type tub kits and making them work. You might need to spend a little time on TGO (ThirdGen.org) to get the detailed answers your wanting.
Totally pumped to see your progress as I have love all your previous builds.

As far as the mini tub goes. There are not a whole lots of options out there right now. You can either use the Wolfe kit for 4th gens or fab your own. I chose to fab my own because the Wolfe kit was way overkill for a 335/30/18 tire. Plus you lose the ability to use the factory interior plastics unless you cut them up, then it looks stupid. By fabbing them up myself I was able to put a large radius on the inside top edge that just clears the interior plastics. Once it's all installed you cannot tell from the inside of the car that it has tubs. The one thing you will lose no matter what route you go is the factory rear seat belt anchor points. I had to fab up an adapter plate to be able to install the rear belts.

Wel,, no buyers for mine, so Its gonna stay. I am tired of the Bright Orange though so its gonna get some fresh paint.
I have a few gallons on the shelf, but not sure if they would look good on it.
Colors I have, Cedar Green Metallic ( kinda dark like British Racing Green) Willow Green ( a light goldish gray green, hard to explain, almost like metallic olive drab) Flame Red Metallic ( very similar the factory Flame red) Lemans Blue ( would look great, but wife says 2 blue camaros is too much!?) Black Cherry Pearl ( looks kinda Brown too me :( )
Im kinda thinking a Silver or charcoal metallic would be cool though.

Hey, This is bill. My tubular K member is from Race Kraft. The K member is set up for a 2002 z28 rack that needs to be cut down to fit. Also you will need their fabbed spindles. I went with the tubular lower control arms and went with the correct spindle for the swap with a 2" drop at the same time. I loss around 140 lbs from the swap but gained it back with my procharger, intercooler and large rad. Give them a call and see if that still have it.

Looks GREAT. Stock exterior... wolf in sheeps clothing. The front nose and spoiler are kinda funny shaped, is that part of the design or just oddity of the rendering? Like the wheel design too. Thin and simple.
Other than the wheels/brakes it looks a lot like my buddy Shauns cammed 5.3l swapped 89 IROC we finished up last summer.

I drove my car around for a couple years almost that low...finally gave up. I raised it up an inch and it made a HUGE difference in ride quality...it was like night and day...lol

Some beautiful rides in this thread, fun to watch... of course, I recognize most of these cars from that other site (TGO).
My 91 B4C T5 is up to 22k miles; it gets driven (mostly for fun). The stock LB9 T5 N10 with factory 3.42s will break the rear end loose; these cars were quick for their time. Spending money on it, but just to keep it stock, clean, and running as it left the factory. Recently replaced the rubber in the suspension and the factory shocks with some Bilsteins. May get the GFX touched up - the passenger side piece has lost its clear and is starting to yellow fairly quick. Doesn't show in these pics.
18" CCW Classics / BBS RS, some nice looking brakes, and a drop are still tempting, though... it already has an aftermarket muffler and a Hurst shifter is sitting in the garage still new in the box. On the fence.

Figure I will bump it up and keep this alive.
Been lurking for a while. Originally signed up looking for info on doing a 67 Chevelle then decided with a baby on the way to just pickup another 3rd gen and go back to my roots.
Picked this one up last Fall. Was a low mile original car in nice shape.. Decided to take care of suspension/braking first while building a turbo 5.3L setup on the side..

Custom Panhard Relocation made myself to clear my 3.5" exhaust
Custom TQ Arm made myself (BMR Track pack copy)
Poly control/sway bushings
C5 Z06 Front brakes with GMPP Slotted/drilled rotors
1997 LT1 F-body Rear Brakes
1998 Camaro SS Rear end 3.23 Posi
1998 Camaro SS Rims 275/40's on all 4 corners
So far been enjoying it. slow as sin but looks good and handles well. Need to figure something out for bump steer though. Its pretty horrible being so low and I cannot fit a bump steer kit in the front since they hit the rims. Thinking maybe a taller ball joint. Maybe that will help a bit.

I think that the shape of the actual flare looks better than most I have seen. The way it meets the body front and rear is not good enough for my tastes... makes me wish I knew someone that worked with fiberglass to make a mold of these cause they would look great if they could be blended into the panels.

They use a two self tapping screws into the inner edge of the fender lip, then double sided tape to the body. They are made of a foamy rubber type material, but are painted smooth. I understand the lack of time. My 9" build took every bit of my time allowance for a bit lol. I'd send them to ya to do some molding or something if you thought you could find the time. I planned on holding onto these and sell them to someone that thought they wanted them more than me since they are just weird rare here in the states.

My dad just bought an 89 GTA l98 with 80,000miles to flip.
Kinda digging it though, and wishing I didn't just sell all my 3rd gen parts

Torque arm, watts link, moser m9 35 spline wavetrac ,6 piston baers all around, ricks stainless rank, fast 2.0 xfi/xim, racepak dash , real bride kevlars. Willwood clutch/brake pedal , aquamist meth kit,hre and iforged wheels. Makes 867rwhp@13psi no meth@3500 ft above sea level. Not the prettiest thirdgen but a blast to drive...

Ummmmm... usual! Not hardly!!! LOL You got a build thread on that anywhere. I'd love to see some more pics of that car, and info.
Questions? - Whose rear end torque arm set up is that? Not the typical pound the dog**** out of your floor Moser mount. What material did you use for the rear diffuser. Assuming Did you custom make your rear spoiler? Crazy tall, but works.
Love it man please take the time to post up more :)

I meant usual for pt not for irocs of course ,lol. I had nothing to do with building the car, i bought it as is a month ago. The rear diffuser is built out of aluminum , the spoiler is a stock z28 piece that was cut and "stretched" . Ill take a look next time im under the car but the torque arm is most likely by spohn or bmr. I usually build or have my cars built but this was way to good a deal to pass up. And a lot less stress to buy something already done. The only change i made was take the zr1 tail light panel out and im looking at new wheels

Yeah good call on that ZR1 panel. Really dates the car, even though everything else is perfect. So you gonna get rid of the Iforged, or the HRE, or both? Not a huge fan or chrome, but the polished Iforged wheels look killer. Looks like bigger tire than a 295, so I'm guessing must be mini-tubbed as well.

Yes, definite good call on the ZR1's, I'm personally a fan of the stock IROC type taillights. Pretty trick car.
