View Full Version : its official.. STREETFIGHTERS Car club is born.
Mr.VENGEANCE
11-20-2008, 03:04 PM
Fellow streetfighters..
Now seeing that pro-touring is back up.. and some were following the thread on the names but i noticed that many were feeling the Streetfighter name.. its pretty much perfect so i decided to pull the trigger.
besides this pretty much applies to all of the sites involved in the pt scene
so here it is..
Streetfighters c.c. is born.
For those who havent been following my threads this club is a very strict club.. the following constitution should be considered law.. so read carefully.
Streetfighters C.C. constitution.
Purpose & Direction of the Streetfighters
A. Enjoyment of designing, modifying, and racing streetfighter style muscle cars with a minimum of encumbrances.
B. Forwarding the style of build through demonstration of club members.
B. Capitalizing on the organization skills of others..
Qualifications for Membership.
A. Ownership of 1 or more "streetfighter" style musclecars of any make, any model.. foreign makes accepted if term fits build style.
B. Unlimited to any year cars... as long as the style is representative then the terms fits.
C. A member of this club must have, hold a drivers license.
D. Members cars must be a working car, must go, stop, turn, and not afraid
to be driven hard.
Laws.
The following by laws shall be considered absolute and unless a member feels that a particular segment too restrictive. In such an event the member or members can consider the law as non existant.
Club Meetings.
A. A club meeting shall be concidered officially in session when 2 or more members find themselves engaged in conversation about streetfighters, telephone and forums included.
B. Club members should attempt to attend no less than 1 meeting a year.
C. No attempt shall be made to formally request the assembly of the entire membership for a meeting or any other function.. meetings are held if 2 or
more make it to the track, road course, or event.
Club officers.
A. All members of this club will hold the title of President. All spouses shall be considered Vice Presidents.. president must always be
present in the oval office "the track".. and as always vice presidents at their own discretion.
Membership limitations.
A. There shall be no less than 2 members. Should the official club roster fall below 2 Qualified male members the club will be considered disbanded.
Dues & Fines.
A There are no Dues.. just dues payed on the track/road course.
aka driving, learning and earning ones stripes.
B. Fines appropriate for the offense shall be levied at the discretion of the club President.
Note. President and vice presidents are exempt from any fines.
Club Uniform.
A. The official club uniform shall meet the following description.
1. Any Garment or combination of garments that adequately cover the body's "Private Parts".
2. Upper garments are optional for vice presidents.. unless they are male.
3. jeans and t-shirts are preferred apparel.
chains, spikes, mohawks, brassknuckles, luchador masks, afro wigs, and leather jackets optional.
4. an ugly mug, scars, tooth loss from a fight or snarl a plus.
Members.
Lastly, As Streetfighters begins to grow, one of the most enjoyable aspects of the club are the people involved. Despite great distances that separates the fighters themselves, there is a strong sense of pride and friendship that prevails within the community. Being a stand up fella is just as important if not more than the car you drive.
Participation on the pro-touring.com and lateral-g.net message boards are the best way to contribute to this aspect. Spending time on those particular sites isnt necessary but it gives the existing members a great way to see who you are and what you're about. No matter how cool you're car is, or how hard you drive than the next guy, if you've got a bad attitude and interested in your own egos then you're probably not going to fit well with this club.. and the others wont allow that either.
General Streetfighter car criteria.
- Brutal engine combinations are good but.. FUNCTIONAL
- Heavily upgraded suspensions.
- Upgraded brake systems
- Minimalism as far as build goes ie: no ridiculous chrome, wild flamed paint, blowers, etc.
- No wild Sound systems.. No Navigation systems
- PROPERLY installed racing seat belts.
- Wheels for performance.. despite size.
If it helps the car perform better thats the one.
- Proper tires.
- Cages of various points.
- Lowered but not to the point of gold daytons.
- Rear ends upgraded for racing.
- Light weight components ie: Carbon fiber hoods, etc.
- Fabricated spoilers, interiors, etc.
- No heater, and possibly no AC.
- Fire systems.
- Fuel safe systems.
- Scars from driving.. a badge of honor.
- Not afraid of getting Badges of Honor.
This is not a MUST in the club, nor is it a law.. Its a general illustration of the build style. If your car is similar to this style then you are a streetfighter.
A streetfighter is a street car with race car attributes, and alot of attitude..
If you see one of these and it makes you nervous.. then its exactly the style.
so thats the deal...
If you dig what this could be and follow the aspects of what makes a Streetfighter in your build, come and hang out!.. Ill do my best to make something out of this.
Please help me along with ideas, thoughts and build references as we go along.
long live the Streetfighters!
and thank you to lateral-g and protouring.com
thank you!
Amir Totem.

Cool name!!! I drive hard all the time, even the winter beater! I have my 1968 Fairlane coupe. Now is a drag car but I am in process of making a PT car. FE big block, 5 speed, Total Control suspension, and new paint. NO radio or bs in my car, the sound comes from the engine!!! So while mine is not done yet, I believe I would qualify. Is this going to be nation wide?
ps picture of what my car will be in "my garage"

Oh yeah! I run the dragstrip multiple times a season, and have autocrossed 2 times (wanting to do more). I really like to run the canyons here and scare the crap out of some of the yuppie C5 drivers in the area.

Here are a couple pics of mine for club approval. It's setup for PT use, SC&C uppers, 4 wheel disc, TKO600, 468ci Rat, narrowed rear with 3.73 posi, some rear suspension goodies, NO A/C or radio, no wipers or motor, rough paint, and she loves smoky burnouts. As soon as I get the carb tuned she'll hit the track.

The clubs website is going to be on
www.thestreetfighters.com
so shouldnt be a problem.. and as for the name.. on the site ill put a honrable mention to where the name came from. in the same fashion as the bikes we are with the cars..
if its a problem for them then well add on the site
Streetfighter cars.
4W Streetfighters
Streetfighter Autos.
Streetfighters 4 wheel battalion.
whatever it doesnt matter..
Also i looked extensively and havent found a Streetfighters car club.. so im not worried about the name.
Winter time is here so lets get to the builds.. post up.

Heh, all that chrome was there when I bought the car. I'm slowly but surely replacing it (I'm no fan of chrome). Interior is pretty basic, some old recaros, stock rear seat, semi new carrpet Covan dash. Headliner in good shape but both rear sail panels are coming apart. Oh, and I have a huge hole in my trunk. ;)

No, If your car follows the Streetfighter style you are eligible.
List your plans of the car man, so we can know what its made of.
My car is a 68 chevelle malibu that's pretty much debadged except for stock 327 emblems, 383 making around 425hp, 2004r, 4.10 gears in a 12 bolt. Trying to go for a mostly stock day 2 car so it's got headers, 3" x pipes to 2 1/2" tails with cutouts after headers, stock points distributor rebuilt w/ magnetic pickup triggering a hidden msd 6al w/ stock looking wires, vintage stewart warner gauges and a vintage sun tach (same combo **** Harrell used on the few 68 427 chevelles he built), radio delete plate with a hidden cd player in dash, 12" disks up front (possably going to 4 wheel disks if/when I can afford it) along with tubular rear control arms, bigger sway bars, poly bushings and 650lb circle track springs up front to lower it about 2-3", 2" rear drop, 15" ralleys with short disk brake caps, 235/60 front 275/50 Nitto 555 drag radials rear (both have black side walls).
Thinking of dropping the power brakes and heater core to give it more of a minimalist factory street racer look.
It'll look pretty much like any other 68 chevelle with a 2" steel cowl hood and dark blue paint, blackened out grill, 69 camaro front spoiler, and I think one white and one red GS stripe above the drivers side wheel well might be enough to set it apart.
What do you think?

whats the plans for your car?
Well It's going to be driven and built as I go. First upgrade will be some nascar style cheap 15" steel black rims, and new tires. Then I will upgrade the springs, after that I would like to get some new brakes, esp discs for the back so I can install my moser rear that I already have. At some point in time I need to put a new floor pan in it and rockers. Then I would like to have a cage built in and get some good seats and harnesses. It needs a lot of body work but that will be a ways out.

My 91 Z28 is painted for 2 reasons:
I hate the stereo type "redneck third gen" BS
It's easier to maintain a clean track car
Funny story: I had the car painted in spring 2005 after a teenager girl pulled out in front of me. Took 6 weeks to do all the prep and paint. I was on a deadline to make the F-body event which was in Memphis that year. I picked up the car from the paint shop on Monday, had it pinstriped on Tuesday, trailered it 5 hours Wednesday, and got my first rock chip on the hood at 146 mph following someone too close on the straightaway Thursday Morning. Friday I cut a tire on the carousel at 110mph and did 6-360's through the grass with my passenger whooping and screaming the whole way. After we stopped he looked at me and said "Can we do it again?" (it was his first time out on the track at speed)
Since Buying the car in spring 2003, Ive been to:
Road America (Fon-Du-Lac, Wi)
Indianapolis Raceway park (O'rielly raceway park)
Roebling road (Savannah, Ga)
Memphis Motorsports park
Putnam Park (Outside Indianapolis)
As I can afford it, I will be adding more tracks to the list. I'd love to hit every track within a 8 hour drive of Louisville.
Best mod to date has to be the C5 brake upgrade. Makes all the difference on the track!
I haven't made it to the track with the new engine, but I have already signed up for next years event in Indianapolis www.fbody-event.org (http://www.fbody-event.org) (of course that is because I'm the main Road course organizer) Anyone else who might want to have a "streetfighter club meeting" in May is welcome to sign up when registration opens.

I have a build going on right now, 68 Chevy Truck LWB (I know, it sux) but it turns heads. 454 BBC thumps hard through 3" exhaust, TH-400 trans, 3:73 gears in the rear, Has a transplanted front suspension from an 84 Chev Truck, rides nice and smooth with ABS and tilt steering, it lacks being dropped a little, and wheels and tires, and I wouldn't mind going this route, the whole Pro-Touring thing is too much bling and $$ for me, but I can dig this route.......I'll attach some pics. BTW any input would be appreciated

Lets just say I was probably the one that gave you the heads up on prime-works, grace-co and advance. The big third gen guys over there in Japan.
Now that I I've just checked my PM's yes, I sent you one when you said you were over there, or going over. Last June.
Anyhow. Check the Fquick. Like you, I wont post all the plans but...
better aero
bigger lighter engine
less unsprung weight
stiffer chassis
less junk.
fast and ugly...or maybe function over form would be a nicer statement

Hey Vengeance,
What are your plans for your GTO?
BTW do I qualify? No plans for a roll cage I still want to take my little one for a ride. My car is sort of a reverse from what everyone else is doing: a street car that is being made into a street legal race car. Mine was in the process of becoming a drag race only car when I 'rescued' it to make it into a mean street car. It still has the built Pontiac and TH400 but a manual TKO600 or T56 is in the plans!
Don't really like to go to shows but would rather drive it!

Check out this thread.. read through it rather carefully.
If your cars build is in the same fashion.. Its not just keeping it lowbuck, or whatever.. its the purpose of the build.. then your car would be considered a streetfighter..

Yes I painted it in my neighbors driveway right where it's parked in the pic above, before it was graveled. Did the prep work in this narrow garage rented from the same neighbor. That was back in the early 90's.

Alright, I'm going to throw in my submission to be a Street Fighter.
I need to do sub frame connectors before I can't flog it too hard but I do plan to frequent No Problems Raceway. I am going to look into getting a cage but I'm kind of reluctant.
The last pic is what it's eventually going to look like.

I don't know what the wheels are. A guy from another board out of NZ did these.
I think they are a generic model but they kind of look like a Ray's or OZ.
I think I'm going in the direction of a six spoke.

I would like to do it with a couple different thicknesses of brushes and a good paint that pin stripers use.
I used acryllic on a car before but it didn't seem to be UV resistant.
I am going to have to visit a rat rod buddy of mine that does pin striping next week.
It will go dehinf the front wheel openings like F Bombs.

alright so I honestly don't know if I'm a potential player or a just poseur...I bought my car myself at 16, have daily driven it for 6 years, and did all the work on it myself learning along the way UP UNTIL now, when I realized that I was really tired of doing sh*tty work and sent my car off to prodigy to do the engine, minitub, paint and body, and fix all of my mistakes.
So...did I sell out? Car came from the factory with no a/c, so I qualify there :smoke:
I also have the ugly part and the leather jacked down pat.

plans are as follows:
Ls2 bottom end/ls3 top end, all straight from holden/australia.
TK0600 to back that up
airride challenge kit suspension (full airbar in the back, tubular UCAs and LCAs up front, DA shockwaves)
all kinds of fun chassis stiffening stuff
19x11.5 and 19x8.5 forgeline TA3's
Wilwood 6 piston fronts, 4 piston rears
Can't let go of my stereo--but it's only 2 4s and 2 6x9s in stock locations.
And it will still be at least semi-daily driven (moved to a new place where I can walk to classes, so not much driving necessary--hence the reason I have no car right now) and driven to the track, around it, and back home--but only when Frank's not looking, because I'm pretty sure he'd kill me if I picked up any battle scars with it in the next five years.

Have'nt gone to the website yet, but this club sounds like one I could enjoy. Mine's a 79... it's beautiful, but only because I haven't had it long enough, or been sloppy enough on the track for any scabs to show. Suspension is worth more than I paid for it... but I did all the work myself except the paint... told the painter I wanted her to look pretty, but not too nice since it was going to be an autocrosser, when I said it should look nice he heard 'show car'. It's got 400hp under the hood and another 160 in a direct port nitrous system I just finished plumbing a couple of weeks ago. Couldn't wait for summer, got a ticket last week!

Here is what I got:
68 Camaro, old drag car right now, but this project will eventually be a budget pro-touring build with better suspension, brakes, etc. It has a 350 with a TH350 tanny. The motor makes about 425 HP with iron camel hump heads, Edelbrok performer RPM intake, Mallory ignition, Holley Carb, and a Pete Jackson gear drive.... It's old school but gets the job done for now.
Eventually I would love to build a 5.3 like Steve did for Track Rat using the Iron truck block and pair that with a T56, but right now that is a dream.

It's a 1982 Buick Regal, with a 1987 front end sheetmetal, and 87 Tailights.
It's powered by a "71" 455 Buick Big Block, with headers, Edelbrock intake and 830 cfm factory Qjet.
Its backed by a 200r4 Brf code "86" Grand National trans, driveshaft and rear end, a 8.5 with 3.42 posi.
The Grand National also donated the shifter, front and rear sway bars, steering box YA code, and all it's interior . ( wich will soon be installed replacing that ugly bench seat.), also donated were the GN rims.
Dual Hump trans crossmember, poly front and rear bushings, "GP" front cross brace, "jounce bars", Billet tie rod sleeves,
Try to get all the stuff put together , to go the "pro-touring" route, rear seat braces, already made rear frame horn brace, get SC&C's front upper arms and tall ball joints, the rear "pro-touring" sway bar, A Fays2 Watts Link for the rear and some better lower trailing arms.
All this rolls on 15 x 7 GN rims , with 205/65/15 in front, 275/60/15 , in the rears, eventually 17" rims and tires.
Its a starting point...

Eventually I would love to build a 5.3 like Steve did for Track Rat using the Iron truck block and pair that with a T56, but right now that is a dream.

i'll try to take some more pics tomorrow. Its got a Ram Jet 502 backed by a TCI th400. I had a 700r4 but I toasted it. I'm putting together a bulletproof 9inch rear as we speak. Its got airride tech shockwaves and bags run by an Airpod. Spindles would bring the front lower but I dont like running high pressure in my bags. Thats pretty much it...

Plans??? Hell I just got back from SEMA my mind is spinning!!! I have a nine inch ordered and on the way. Thats the last thing I need to finish the powertrain. I am going to go with a flat black or flat silver on the body. If I go with flat silver the wheels and alum moulding will get flat black. I'm looking at some forgeline wheels but I cant decide what sizes to go with. I do plan on doing a frame notch and mini tub because I want to get some meat under there. Bottom line is that this car was just purchased as a vehicle to drive around the BB 502. I wasnt planning on getting crazy with it but after SEMA I think I'm going to go in a differant direction. Thanks for the great comments guys have a great day...

The first picture is my current DD. It see's a lot of strip time and some auto-x.
306CI with an auto makes it kinda fun with upgraded springs and shocks.
The second picture is of a project of mine and my dads.
1966 shelby R-code
310 CI small block making close to 550HP and revving to about 7500 RPM. Super t-10, 3:89 trac lock. Shelby air dam, tbolt hood. No heater. No A/c. Has power steering added and disc brakes on the front. custom molded 68 camaro spoiler and maier racing flares. Indy slot racing wheels and cooper cobra rubbers.
It runs really good on the scca track :)

502bu and Go, what wheels are those? I love how discreet they are!
My plans as of now -- for my 74 Javelin -- were coming to life in this club! I wanted to make it a car for driving hard, no frills on the paint, either a plain gray or satin black, I have a 360 that I want to install EFI and a rear mount turbo. Full coil-over on the front, discs on all four corners.
Question is -- can I be in??

Does my car qualify for the StreetFighter Club? It has no air, no heat , no radio, loud A$$ exhaust. No shiny paint, no chrome except the wheels and bumpers. I have participated at PSMC, RTTV, and the Goodguys show in Charlotte. I have drove the Hell out of it this year!!

The ESSENTIAL principal of a Streetfighter is the idea of a "like a race car stolen from the track and out on the street."
If the criteria is similar to your cars build then your car is a Streetfighter.
again it isnt JUST lowbuck... it can be.. but it isnt just that.
If your cars MAIN modifications are to the performance rather than the comfort ie.: Air conditioning, streetrod style seats, sound systems, etc..
If much of your time is spent modifying your chassis, brakes, engine and aerodynamics then THAT is a streetfighter.. and it can have nice paint too!
Agent.
Im starting here and going as far and wide as possible.
If there are other Streetfighters in SoCal then its all about getting together with like minded(streetfighter stylists) and mobbing up to hit the tracks or whatever you damn well feel like it.

You can say that with confidence I am sure!!!

Can I get into the club?
I am currently working on this 1965 Chevelle. It should be done in a week. I do have 20's in the back but I have a set of 18's for the rear when I plan to autocross it. It has Corvette brakes, fully updated and adjustable suspension, etc...

I also have a 1972 Camaro that is stuck in body shop jail. It had so much rust that I had no choice but to send it off to the shop to get repairs. I plan on a Supercharged LS motor for that one.
I also have in the project list:
1989 BMW E30 M3 with a Supercharged S52 engine
1969 BMW 2002 with a planned turbo charged M20 six cylinder
1968 El Camino that I am not to sure which way to go yet.
