67 Cougar I've had for about ten years now. My dad helped get me started on it when I first got it, and since then I've done pretty much everything on the car myself. I build cars for a living, so the cougar is more about having fun than being "perfect" or "finished".
Current configuration:
408 Stroker w/ solid lifter crower cam, total seal rings, etc.
c4 trans on it's last leg
3:55 traction lock ford 8in rearend (lighter than 9in, less power to turn)
Mini-tubbed.
Just got the 17x9 and 17x10.5 Cobra rims and did the Shelby drop, 245's in front and 315's out back. New wheels inspired new krylon paint job.
Kwikwire harness.
Custom fiberglass hood - my buddy works in fiberglass(literally!) and led me through the process at his shop. Made entire thing - built model out of the steel hood, made mold for the top and for the bottom, made parts from the mold and glassed it all together. Still itchy.
The grill helped delete a bunch of vacuum junk that was heavy and allows for 7in headlights. It's actually a 62-64(?) full-size Mercury grill cut in half and outer headlights cut off. The outside was crunched so I got it for $15. It weighs almost nothing.
Weighed in at 3047lbs about four years ago with a full tank of gas. That was before the fiberglass hood and another round of fat trimming!
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2010/03/1268881272-1.jpg
I haven't actually had it on the track yet, 2-3 flare shift is terrible! Looking forward to a 5 speed swap this year. Short term goals include a chin spoiler and lowering the back(obviously!), should have more pics soon.

I forgot to mention the movie:
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2010/03/devilgirl_0023-1.jpg
I got to go 130mph+ during the filming of "Devil Girl" back in 2005! Having 5 miles of desert highway locked down by the cops so you can film a chase scene was one of the coolest things ever!

this car was just in the august 5.0 with my shelby that was compound boosted. the green car made the above numbers on 19 lbs of boost with 93 octane and tuned with a chip through the stock a9l. there is still alot more left in her and when all is said and done i believe she will be running on e85. the loop was do to the boost controller being set up wrong and it overboosted to 26 lbs, good thing the motor is built for it.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2010/08/Picture295-1.jpg
i am glad i found a place to contribute to this site, i am going to build a 74 f100 as a pt but nothing yet as i am still in afghanistan at the moment as a civilian.

thanks, the color is from the honda cr-v and it is called green tea.
i am thinking that with a more aggressive tune and e85 she will put down 1000'ish. this car was not built with the intent of being a dedicated drag car but rather a street stalker. there are a few things to be worked out as it sits, while i was home last time i drove it for about 4 days and then put her up because it plain scared the crap out of me..lol.. that and i do not have a cage in there................

I've sorta been following this thread... boy, there's a ton of ass-kicking inspiration to be found here! In fact, it's got me thinking more and more lately. While I think my Mach would've qualified better in its old (unrestored) condition than its current "restomod" style, I've been thinking of going a bit more hardcore with it lately... maybe something like this:
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif
It might at least be a step in the right direction, right?
And I've been wondering if my XR4RS might qualify though...
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://img526.imageshack.us/i/img5132small.jpg/) https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://img198.imageshack.us/i/img5790small.jpg/) https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://img198.imageshack.us/i/img5799small.jpg/) https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://img409.imageshack.us/i/img2847m.jpg/)
... upgraded turbo, intercooler, ecu, intakes, exhaust, custom BMW lsd diff conversion, custom WRC/Wilwood front disc upgrade, custom rear disc conversion, Spax/Cosworth suspension, Team Dynamics motorsports wheels... it's been auto-x'd, track day'd, gravel'd, and beat on daily. Whatcha think?

Definitely!
that mustang is on the right track!
Thanks. :) The XR is gonna be getting more serious as I get time and money, so it should ensure my membership.
As for the Mustang, I tweaked the pic again... take a look. Definitely getting there! I'm thinking a couple turbos, carb'd or EFI, a 6 pt roll bar, maybe a couple Kirkeys or Recaros, harnesses, Cobra brakes, keep tweaking the suspension... keep pushing it that direction. I gotta say though, I don't think I'll be removing the a/c; I drove it for years like that here in Florida, but I figure if I can have the a/c and all the fun too, why not?
Mr.VENGEANCE
08-28-2010, 09:03 AM
If you took the styling cues from the mustang and applied it to the XR then it would be on the right track also!
just make sure it sees track time and after the tracktime you can go get icecream and not worry about if you get a door ding.

As far as streetfighter style goes Im a full time student with a part time job at a supermarket pushing carts, so budgets always tight. I got my car with all the emissions removed (cat, AIR, EGR) so its always an excitement on how im getting inspected next time. I have heat and A/C but the A/C is cold but doesnt really have any force behind it, so i would say i dont have A/C. T-tops and windows down all the way. Stereo system is very mediocre, i left it at modding my stock radio for an aux port for my ipod and left it at that. I really want to do autox or even a real circuit type race. But im never sure when me or my car is ready for that. So i tend to stick with carving up exit ramps and the empty parking lots.

Vengeance is 150% correct^^, look at my car two post up, im in college and have a part time job. any money i had left over after bills etc i would spend on my car and it was pretty bad when i started. you have a an even more solid car than i started with because from what i see there is no rust etc. i think if you got a nice set of black wheels, tinted windows and lower it a little and it will be right on. how do you like those sway bars? i was looking into either those or hotchkis. keep it up man looks good so far.-Dom

Thanks, yeah its been painted summer of 09, the dealership my dad works at theres a bodyshop attached so over like a month i was going there everyday trying to help out, just mainly sanding, wet sanding, and masking. They sprayed it for me. I really like the swaybars alot, i was crossed between spohn and UMI. DSE and Hotchkis were really out of budget. It was a night and dat difference even starting out with F-41. Yeah brakes and drop are at the top of the list, just worried about opening my door on curbs, but its worth it.

i lowered my car recently and i haven't had a problem with the doors and curbs, the only problem im having s my headers being too low to the ground and i scrape sometimes. you just have to be observant and careful. i did ls1 brake conversion on mine and its sooo much better , because its good to go fast but you gotta be able to stop fast too lol. good luck with your car, dont rush anything just take your time and save money like i do. -Dom

so whats the deal with imports? I am seriously considering buying a 99 Integra that can run 12's and has the power to weight ratio of a Ferrari, lowered on stock wheels, tint to hide the gutted interior(none from front seats back). I joke with my friend its the anti-rice rice burnerit has the usual rice things, big exhaust, lowered and tinted but has the power to back it up. The half radiator is cool because at the correct angle you can see a turbo glaring at you through the grille

I have a streetfighter..is got no heat except for what comes off the exhaust, no a/c, fully adjustable suspension, loud exhaust, it has a little carbon fiber, and its also one of 800 made....
only thing is my streetfighter is 2-wheeled. I'm quite fond of the streetfighter movement, both with cars and motorcycles

im guessing you had to drill into the body to mount it? do you have any closer pics.

Heres how the inner rods are mounted- I had to drill and tap the bumperettes, and then just screwed in the support rods.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2011/02/DSCF1181-1.jpg
The outer rods go through a factory bolt hole in the body and are held in by a bracket that is part of the headlight mechanism (no pic, sorry)

Motor is at the machine shop right now... fully forged rotating assembly, AFR heads and roller cam (hope to have it done for RTTS). T56, and a custom 12 bolt IRS when I can afford them. I have a set of brembo monoblock calipers off of a Porsche Cayenne that Im working on fitting to some 13" rotors (again, when I have the $$).
I will keep my carpet, heater and basic radio to make it somewhat livable when Im driving down to a track day, or just cruising to the beach.

Thanks for the good posts:)..I guess(14 Years since i did it) i cutted 4 inches out of each corner on the front bumper..and i had to form some panels there to make it fit against the front fenders.

The rear bumper was more work..had to hand form new panels on each corner, and i took out 4 inches in the middle..the rear lights have been placed into a new panel too..in steel.

Let me know if this fits in here. I tend to follow the form follows function thinking. My car is not a high dollar build since I don't have it. All the work is done by me and my wife. It sure is fun to drive. It has an Olds 350, with Edelbrock RPM intake, Edelbrock carb, Mallory Unilite distributor, MSD coil, Magnesium valve covers, and a Moroso catch can. Unsure of the HP as it is a $400 Ebay engine. Best thing I ever bought. It runs way strong and seems to be bullet proof. The suspension consists of Poly on the front end, Metco LCA's in the rear, and custom spec sway bars from Hellwig. These bars are not in their inventory and were a group buy from another forum. The front is 1 3/8 and the rear is a monster 1 1/2 inch solid bar. I have kacked up one side only to have the opposite side raise up trying to keep the car level. The wheels are cheapie Boss 18X9's with 275/40-18's all around. The interior is very basic. I have 4 buckets seats an industrial type shifter from Kilduff and not much else at the moment. I just yanked the radio. No sense in having something you don't use. Car sounds better anyway. I have worked to get the weight down, by removing what I can and switching to light stuff. For intance I am changing over to an aluminum hood and hinges out of a junkyard. Saves me 47lbs. Also got rid of the A/C equipment. Anyway here is the car.

He's got the right wheels, LOL. Those are a pretty strong indicator of cars that may be up to hooligan hijinks. Us Streetfighters tend to be the only ones that throw Soft 8's on our cars! I think it's a great looking wheel (yes, they're heavy as _ _ _ _) but you never see cream puffs with them on.

Well as far as things done to the car so far:
Tubular A arms
Cpp vented four wheel disc brakes
Drop spindles
2" block in the rear
Home made shifter handle, turn signal arm, engine start button and aviation style switch panel, upholster of the rear seat, chinese racing seats, 3 points seat belts.
Relocated gas filler, all painted chrome, revised stock tailights, magnaflow exhaust (soon to exit before the rear wheels).....
355 sbc, old school ported Eddy Torker intake, Comp cam, 1.5 roller lifters, Carbon fiber Nascar air intake, homemade inner fenders, and on and on.
As far as tracking the car, we have open track cessions an hour and half from the house. But we do have a huge trucker stop empty on week ends to drag or drift on friday nights!!!
Is this enough to fit??

Im glad I finally read the entire Street Fighters thread. I started my C2 project about a year ago with an idea to build a vintage Corvette with C6 Z06 performance specs. Ive never cared much for creature comforts and have spent most of my money on performance. The dream got off track here and there because my points of reference came from the Corvette Forum and Pro-Touring.com. The beautiful builds on those forums crept into my ideas and I occasionally got wrapped up in appearance. My mind has cleared a little and my build is back on track. I originally wanted to model the build after a 911 GT3 RS with a bare bones interior and all components and money focused on performance.
I carefully weighed the use of technology against the difficulties of maintenance. I did splurge on an 8 stack EFI but that is kind of a heritage thing to the early C2 race cars. EFI made sense with a self learning minicomputer versus tuning 8 Webers, lol. I thought a lot about going LS and decided rightly or wrongly not too.
Based on my new clarity of vision the cars paint will stay the way it is. Flares will be strapped on, interior put back in and the car will be ready to go. I have a 68 C3 coupe that is going to be built along the L88 race car theme. It will have a cage instead of a roll bar. I havnt decided to whether to go with an aluminum big block with multiport efi or an LSX 454. The rest of the build is planned and ready to go. I am fortunate to live near the Tx Motor Sports ranch and plan on joining as soon as I have a car track ready. Thanks for helping me with my clarity of vision.

Mr. V,
You can guarantee yourself that I have spent much time on your site checking out the: "What It Takes" to be part of the StreetFighter series of performance machines.
"Not A TA #14 Car" is one of the most amazing machines I have seen and he is doing to his car what I want for mine.
My WhiteLightning 73' is going in this month for Custom sub-frame connectors and 6-point roll cage. The best part will be sliding the 461 CID stroker, full roller wicked Pontiac monster. Full of Cryogenic treated goodies and a very "special" Comp Cams design bump stick. :)
Oh and yes, my turkey has been jived.

From the look of it id say that car qualifies as a Streetfighter.. specially with those engine tranny specs, fender flares, suspension and splitter.. but hopefully it isnt iced out in the interior.

Considering Aluminum front and rear seats, with only specifically placed leather pads, and a period basic interior... I will need the AC with the summers we have here... Yes the car is going to be daily driven and tracked, so it will be abused.. I am going for a Raw Metal/Finish look, so it looks like it just rolled out of the Machine Shop, so I am really excited about the Brushed/Satin Chrome of all the bumpers and trim, because it is going to match the raw look of the wheels and motor, because none of that is getting coated or polished... Just Basic, as shown in the trim finish choice and the seat style pics below, just the basic. I really want the seats, but I am still working to see if I can get them done.

No Dashboard lights yet
My story, well I live in the midwest and only drive it in the summer when I get home from europe. Last summer was my first summer driving it. Had a blast drove it nearly everyday...
But I also have a toyota supra fully modified. I think I was going about 180 mph when the motor let go. I spun 3 rods out of six and destroyed my crank but still I limped it home.
Next day I got my camaro out which has a new crate engine in it and maybe 1000 miles on it. And had it redlined at 5200 rpm's in forth. Like hmmmm its still pulling!!! I drive my cars like I stoled them.
So I know I don't meet the exact qualifications, because of the radio and all. But music is part of my soul and I wont let that go. But would still love to be part of the club

just because the car is in primer doesnt MAKE it a streetfighter... just cause it HAS nice paint doesnt mean it CAN NOT be a streetfighter!

I'm so confused now. I'm going to laugh if 5 years from now we have a bunch threads with endless posts trying to define what a streetfighter is. And here I was hoping I could just put a flat black wrap on my car and call it a street fighter one day since it sees 7000 miles a year and gets autocrossed frequently. I've got a soft spot for these types of cars, but I keep ending up building stuff that has too many expensive stupid little parts, fancy paint, etc. etc.
Mr.VENGEANCE
02-10-2013, 07:42 PM
put it this way..
at one point Bad Penny was very streetfighter.. OnelapCamaro is heading that way also.. both have nice paint.
thats what im talking about even if the paint is nice it could still be a streetfighter..
this car.. Steve Chryssos' camaro.. streetfighter with good paint.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2010/07/Chryssos4-1.jpg
one lap in which in my opinion is a streetfighter.. even slightly more racecar now.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif
Vanzuuk's camaro.. Streetfighter.. and cold blooded as a mutha..
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif
definitely Daigns 69 Camaro.. Streetfighter and vintage trans am in harmony.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2011/02/IMG_2750JPG-1.jpg
this car.. streetfighter.. nice paint.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif
and though its nice.. NOT a streetfighter.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2013/02/103317d1277824873custompaintjobjdbbcamar-1.jpg
again.. nice.. but not a streetfighter.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2013/02/cuda-1.jpg
not a streetfighter.. maybe a heavyeater.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2013/02/2evdlc4-1.jpg
now.. ALL that I named above have the potential to Streetfight out their cars.. and the moral is not to get TOO hung up on the "showing the newest parts you bought" but to get it sorted, get it out, and get the damn thing TURNING.
Racecar with license plates and headlights.

Essentially that is a 69 camaro RSSS with a flat black paintjob.
first thing to tell me that isnt a Streetfighter is..
The BRAKES not even the fact that hes running TT2s..
other than that I have to speculate what the car has.. I can see a tach but other than that I dont notice much more than the missing front window chrome.
what could be done to Streetfight it out?
LETS GO AHEAD AND ASSUME IT HAS A SERIOUS MOTOR.. small block or LS.
after that..
-Big Brakes.
-Track oriented suspension components, aftermarket frame, upgraded control arms, guldstranded, whatever you can to make it better than just a lowering..
you could go with the cheap but effective to the all out DSE suspension.
-Upgrade his Seats.. I can tell by the barnsized headrests that the thing has some meager bolstered cruise night seats in it..
Take a hard ass turn in those I dare ya!
- Remove/move things in the car for weight such as speakers, sound deadener, relocating battery, etc..
- Proper Wheel Choice.. I would go with a set of Bogart racing 4spoke GT wheels on this car in 17s or 18s.. hell even 16s.
- a proper Cage or at least a rollbar.
- proper seatbelting.
- fire system.
- Aero Upgrades.. Chinspoilers that give more downforce than the stock abs plastic 35 dollar camaro spoiler.. it could be metal, carbon, fiberglass, whatever as long as its
doing its job.
- Blistered, flared, widebodied fenders for wider track.
and finally this biggest thing for it to be a Streetfighter is that it HAS to be on the STREET and the TRACK.
It cannot be a streetfighter if its in the garage majority of its life without getting some useage..

I always felt I was building a "street fighter" and with David Pozzi's help through the 2000's and others on TC, I thought I had arrived! With 4 wheel disc brakes, Eaton posi track rear, 15x8 rally's, 450+hp small block, Tremec TKO600, Gulstrand mod, Koni adjustable shocks, Eibach springs sway bars and 12 second flat in the quarter mile it was a shoe in right? Then I went to my first PT event last summer as an observer/photographer/videographer and I discovered I had only begun to fight. Obviously this "category" is not for the "light of wallet" segment. I am now mini tubbing looking at larger wheels, brakes, springs, someday seats and eventually I will have something that will not be challenged by mere hotrods. But in the meantime I will trudge along never catching up to the guy who has more resources that I, and enjoy my ride...
That first experience...on film.

7660776608I think my 1965/66 Corvair fits the bill. Built from an unfinished project. The Corvair architecture is retained with the air cooled six in the rear, and the fully independent suspension. All of the bushings were replaced with varying durometer urethane and Nylon bushings depending on where they are in the suspension. The springs were picked up at a swap meet as "autocross" springs and lower the car about as much as the HD convertible springs that I used to run with two coils removed but with a much higher spring rate. The transaxle was rebuilt with a posi 3.55:1 ratio and the addition of two extra spider gears for strength. The engine is built with .030 forged pistons, cc matched combustion chambers with the gasket step removed, a custom Howard's cam, modified small block roller tip rockers. The car runs 4 primary carbs with relocated jets, extended vent tubes, modified air horns and have had the castings cleaned up internally. The body is as we found it but assembled for the first time ever since being painted in the 80's with the addition of a 69 Camaro front spoiler. The wheels are Camaro five spoke 15x7 on the street and Cragar steel wheels 15x7 with Hoosier DOT stickies for the track when I can use them. Attached is a picture from Goodguys Nashville and another picture from a few years ago.

Don Yenko used them to whoop up on the then dominant Triumphs in the SCCA D-Production class back when they were new.
It actually corners flatter now than in the second picture due to the heavier springs.

Am I eligible? Trust me the paint isn't pretty and don't plan on painting it. 86811

8681686817Hope to get it running soon, don't have any more recent pics. Drive it as much as possible and run it at some events when my work schedule allows. It for sure won't be a trailer queen or show car.
