Is this right? Waiting 17 weeks for Rims?(resolved)

I won't mention names and companys yet, but the current estimate for my rims, is going to be a couple of more weeks. That works out to be 17 weeks, and the original stated time was 8 weeks! I am not happy with the distributor or want the rims at this point.

I'm missing the entire summer of cruising. I thought I would have had them weeks ago, then had the final measurement on my axle taken and had them back from being narrowed by now. What firm course of actions can I take? Dream Cruise in this area is coming and I'll be sitting in a $10 lawn chair, thanks. I think I'm due some compensation.

NOTE! I am not using the same distributor as previous posts, but if you do go through a third party distributor, get a copy of the P.O. with the wheel vendor ASAP. Wheel vendor says the order wasn't placed until June.

      That sucks......

I just ordered 3pc wheels from a sponsor here and was told 4-6wks. That was a rear 12" wide hoop too. I hate hearing 4+ months for wheels, makes me feel ill.

I assume you vented your frustration to the distributor??

Did you paid for the rims in full/deposit?

Ya, stupid me, full price up front on the credit card. My main interest here is to verify my options and to let everyone else know to be careful. Get a copy of the PO from the distributor to the wheel manufacture to avoid delays. Good suggestion, to work out terms.

Maybe its all a mistake, but I don't think I should be taking ALL of the hit for it. I agree to give some room to mistakes, but isn't this just a bit to far?

cancel the order, demand your deposit back, they told you 8 weeks and its gonna be more than twice that. You can order rims from another site sponsor and you will have them in 4 weeks... what style wheel were you looking for?

If you charged it you may be able to have your credit card company back charge them. Try calling your card company and see what your options are.

The first thing everybody that get's into this hobby needs to realize is nothing happens quickly. Not saying that your wheel manufacturer is in the right but not meeting deadlines in the automotive business is not exactly rare. If you are not pleased with a wheel manufacturer then the next guy should know.

Man that sux. I have a VERY good idea who's wheels you ordered, and I'm sorry that you fell for the 8 week lie! FYI, it's likely not your distributor's fault at all, the manufacture probably told them 8 weeks too. They are just telling you what they've been told.

Our Rushforth's and Schott's are still only 4 weeks delivered. We are cranking rims out of here!

If something comes up, let me know, we would be happy to expedite a set of wheels for you.

You know, I also have a set of 18" and 19" Rushforth Concept 2's ready to ship, what kind of car do you have?

There are a couple wheel company's struggling to get wheels out right now. We stopped taking orders for one of our suppliers until they catch up a bit. In the meantime we have had great luck with Boze, Forgeline and Fiske.

Sunset, I understand you really want those wheels, but as I have told you many times, when you get tired of waiting just give me the word and we can do whatever you want.

Personally I would have thrown in the towel by now!

I guess supply problems happen but that is getting crazy for a set of wheels. Hire more workers, buy more machines, get your inventory in order before taking peoples money, do whatever it takes but stop yanking people around.

See how many wheels a Co sells if they are honest up front with that long of a wait for wheels. They have to be know the delays are there at this point if it is a supply problem. Why not mention names? Most do not want to head down that same road and it can be helpful if your info is 100% correct.

Lot of good sponsors giving you a hint here, take the advise!

      Frank...

I truly appreciate everything that you have done. I want you to know personally, I don't hold you responsible in any way. I have called on the wheels too, so I know you have been right there, and you did make me that offer several weeks ago as well. I am irish and german, and that often makes for a very stubborn, often drunk, and generally congenial person. I want the style of wheel for which I have ordered, so the only other option would be Boze. I figure because of the unusual offset of my rear wheels, to order a different set now would probably cause me to wait another "4-8 weeks" anyway.

To everyone readinig this thread: I have bought alot of things from Frank (more than my wife should know). He has always stood behind the products that he sells, has obviously tried to think of what "I" want\need and not what will make him the most money, and delivered what he has promised. I will not hesitate to buy from him again. For those wanting know know what rims I bought, you'll have to wait until I get them because they are still being held hostage and I don't want them to be "lost in probate" again. Sorry to threadjack.

      Chris.
