Well I spent this past weekend lowering my Pontiac Tempest. I've had the Rushforth Strutters for a few months now and love them. I get all sorts of compliments on them. For me personally I felt the car had a little too high of a stance so I decided to lower it. Here are some before and after pictures.

When I read Pontiac Tempest, I was like oh geeez, who would buy that car? Must have had a different style in my mind cause that is one of the sickest rides I've seen in a long time. Beautiful car. Stance and wheel/tire combo is great. You nailed it. Congrats!

Your quote was my favorite of the bunch!! Anytime someone asks me what car I own, I say 67 Pontiac Tempest and then they say what's that??? When they see the car in person, the model name don't matter much anymore. For me it's all about working on cars and enjoying the drive!!

I used lowering springs that I picked up from OPG. I have 3" lowering springs up front and 2" in the rear. The wheel is a 20x10 wheel with 6 1/4" BS.

Jason,
Thanks man!! Looks like the springs won't be on there for long. Just got done talking with Jon yesterday and it looks like Air Ride will be in the works soon. Hopefully debuting at the Crusin For A Cure show in September!!

So you got some 20x10 Rushforths for the rear too? I saw on your page that the backspacing is 5.25? I went with 6.25 backspacing and it's damn close to the fender lip!

Your profile says you live in Snohomish? My son lived there before he came down to live with me in Southern California.

Hey Johnny, Ya I have the 20x10 super spokes.. I went with a 5.25 backspace so I would have a deeper lip. Im going to have my rear end built to fit. I think I came up with a way to get a bigger tire then a 295 in the rear with out having to do anything to the frame.

Oo ya good ol snohomish! its nice when your outside the little town like me.

oh one last thing, with the new lowerd stance, how far is your frame rails from the ground?

Well unfortunately I read your question a little too late. My car is up on jack stands now and all the springs have been removed. Decided to switch to the Air Ride setup, so I'm trying to get a jump on things with the prep work before putting the order in.

If I had to take a guess, I'd say the frame was about 4-6" off the ground. The bigger issue I had with clearance was my exhaust cutout. It was about 3" off the ground and definitely made it hard to pull in and out of steep inclines, which is why I decided to switch to the Air Ride setup.

Johnny,
Hollar at me when you get a chance tomorrow with your decison regarding which Air Ride kit you've decided on, so I can make sure they are not on backorder, or any thing weird like that. I'd hate to have to wait for something and not make the September show. Let me know.
