I am looking to lower my '86 442 in front after an engine swap. I would like about an inch or so. I considered drop spindles but thought if I could install the tall LBJs and eliminate some bump-steer, better yet. My problem is I am unsure which ball joint is correct. I've researched Afco, Howe and Moog and the base diameter for the tall ones from Afco and Moog have a smaller base dia. than the original for my car. Am I missing something? Part numbers would help alot.
The Howe seems to be the best but are pricey for me. It's not likely that I ever track this car, I just need the front a little lower. It already has Eibach springs all around.
Thanks in advance.

FWIW, I have the Howe ones in my car, and am very impressed with the construction. I don't track my car either, but I do drive it "spiritedly!"

I got some LBJs, I got a pair of the Moogs locally from one of our suppliers to the bodyshop where I work. They are the K6117, I think they are for a 2WD truck? The threads on this look to be a larger dia. Am I supposed to drill the top of the taper to fit?

The silent replies to my question inspired me to try the search button again. I think I found all the answers to my questions on SC&C's FAQs page. It felt like it was written directly to me.
I'll have that humble pie now please.

How about a link to it?
I've seen the Howe units, but not the AFCO.

The Afcos are circle track parts available at Summit, Jegs, or any other circle track catalog. They've been discussed on here but no one had ever listed part #s. I had even searched Afco and Moog by part # and came up empty handed. I've enlisted the help of a racer local to me, he's going to help me out.
Can anyone tell me if the Howe units are a direct replacement for my car, or would I still need to enlarge the taper on the bottom of the spindle?

The Howe pieces I got from SC&C were a direct bolt-on for my car, no mods to the taper of the spindle required.
