Aftermarket Power windows

How complicated is it to convert to power windows. Does the whole door need to be completed gutted - window and all or just replace part of the tracking mechanisms. 67 Camaro coupe. How many hours to do?

No problem Danny, other then drilling the door for the wires, the Electric Life regulators we have bolt in.

We can do them while it is here for the suspension.

Frank , I joined your GP site and as soon as it is activated I have many request on these window units and some other products. Thanks for the help. Also do you know if the Marquez door panels work on the 67 coupe. I emailed them with no response. Also is the new Vintage Air available for 67.

I also run the Electric Life in my car. They are easy to install and work quite well. I had to play with the switches a little bit is all. Summit sell them as well.The kit replaces all the moving parts, so even the rear quarter glass work like new. Randy

Wow, the EL kit operates the quarter windows, too? Do they go straight up and down or do they still do the angle downwards? I'd love to convert to power windows, I just thought it would be more complicated than running a couple wires.

They still go down on a angle, but you do not need to help them as I did on my hand cranks.

They are very easy to install. You will need some switches and door looms for the wires to pass through. We can do billet switches and braided door looms along with your window kits for $440 and free shipping. not bad for a complete power window set up. 2nd gen cars are lucky to have only 2 side windows!

Nice. That always got annoying when people would sit in the back seat, roll the windows down, and then they'd get stuck. :doh:

Frank, I don't know what kind of kits EL makes so I don't know the kit numbers, but how much would it be for a kit for a 69 Nova?

$750 does the entire 4 window Nova kit including (4) billet switches for the console (no one else needs control of the windows anyway), billet loom, etc.

I have an 86 Cutlass with the stock power windows. They are notoriously slow. Does EL make a kit for these cars? Do they work with the stock PW switches? I plan on making a custom center console and use the stock driver side 2 window switch in it to control both the dr and pass side windows with one switch.

Best thing for ou to do for your Cutlass is get new motors from Pep Boys, about $90 for the pair. We just did Michael's Monte Carlo SS and they work OK (notice I only said OK) again. It is a lot cheaper then new regulators. Just be sure to clean the regulators really good and get of all the old lube that is now dried and turned into a a abrasive / glue. We ues laquer thinner and brush off the old smegma on the regulators, they spray the crap out or them with white Lithium grease. A good cleaning and lube, some new motors, and your back to crapy 86 quality power windows again. but there a hell of a lot better then what you have now!

How does one go about cutting the hole in the door for the wire loom? Please don't tell me you have to remove the door!
Next, do the kits come with all the wiring, relays etc. or is it just the regulators and motors?
Just want to know before I get in over my head which doesn't take much...

We provide all you will need. On a first gen we can go from the inside of the door. I never tried it on a 2nd gen?

Do the billet switches look like the ones posted in this thread? Are they lighted? I just plan on building a custom console once I get the LS1 in and I don't want switches that don't match my interior theme.
