Just got some 23x8x15 Goodyear Eagles for the next track day. Going on 15x8 Chev rallys with 4"BS.
Whenever I've taken my 69 firebird out to thrash it at the track it's always seemed like the tires(street tires) have been the downfall of the set-up. So This time I decided to go all out and give some race tires a roll.
I expect it to be much better but how much better I don't know. Anybody got an opinion on how it's going to feel?

Robert

Bob,
What kind of tires where you using (brand and size?) and what type of Goodyear Eagles did you get? It seems that there is a real lack of good 15" street tires being manufactured:P I would imagine moving up to any kind of race tire would be a significant upgrade to your performance.
Thanks,
Mike

Should help a bunch, but you will likely spend some time getting the alignment and pressures right.

I've been running 236/60/14 Firestone Firehawks(Indy 500) since I put the car back on the street. I think the sidewalls are about 5" tall and not real strong. Last time I went out you could see scrub on the sidewall about half way down to the bead. Lucky they didn't roll off I guess. I'm really looking forward to running with something that will hold as far as I want to push it.
The Eagles are slick(no tread). They look like Nascar tires. John said they only had one session on them so I'm hoping they have already been heat cycled because I'm not altogether sure what that intails.
