Family stuff ate up the first half of the year and will continue through August. I feel like Charlie Brown with that rain cloud over my head that follows him around.

I went in the garage Friday to look for a leak in my fuel line, been chasing it for months. So I decided to pull it completely apart an check everything again. What I found was a Swagelok fitting that we checked a few times was the problem. When I disassembled it the ferrel could spin around as free as if it were a bearing. I cut the pipe back and checked the tubing. It was out of round from the cutter. I always try to be gentle and cut in a lot of little adjustments to the cutter but I must have gone too fast and distorted it. After cutting it off I turn on the compressor to blow it out. It fires right up and I blow it out. I assemble the fuel line plug the ends with the test fittings try to blow it up no air! it's a 7.5 hp 80 gal compressor. I check everything Can't find anything. My Nephew is a plant electrician he comes by for a visit we check it out The safety kill switch wasn't making complete contact which burnt the Motor starter and the disconnect switch. Starter switch in in route and I'll go get a disconnect tomorrow. Like I said like Charlie Brown.

Yes you know how it goes, no time got to make the money. Not working plenty of time no Money. Retired some money too beat up to crawl around under the car for very long two weeks to recuperate!lol
As far as color I have about 5 I would use. I like the maroon on the F150. I contacted GM for the color that is on the orange Camaro that was at SEMA, Quite a few times and they got back to me every time. The last guy was kind of snotty He said we haven't even put it in the new car books yet! I guess I can see his point. But it didn't stop me from trying:bananna2: Those are two I'm thinking of but I've changed color before.

Colors drive me crazy in the early 70's I had my 69 Z/28 it was Red/black stripes, then I painted it midnight Blue with one wide white stripe with candy colors on the hood and a graveyard scene on the trunk with the Grim Reaper standing over head stones for Ford,Dodge, Hemi, and a few of my friends names on them too. I traded it in on a 73 RS/LT it was midnight blue/white stripes, I painted it Firemist redish cinomin color with black stripes. So you see I have a problems with sticking with one color.. And being locked up in this house isn't helping!

Wayne, I have a story to tell. In March of 07, the parts to build my 32 Ford pickup began to arrive. My plan was to paint it Ford white with some pin striping and use it as a daily driver. In June, I went to the Pueblo NSRA event. After you had walked around long enough, you used to go into the exhibitors building and find the Rod Doors display and sit on one of their seats. They were all full. There was a very proper lady sitting on a 32 Ford seat. I asked if I could sit and she said that would be fine. I started a conversation and she had told me that this was her 1st as being a car owner. Her husband had built a 37 Chevy pickup. She said " I don't know anything about this but they use outrageous colors on the inside and outside that you would never see in normal life". I thought about that and decided she was correct. I got out the paint book when I got home and that's how the 32 ended up green. I used the white on the firewall and the interior. That color started many conversations with strangers. It opened doors that otherwise I would have never even seen. I never grew tired of it, either. Good luck with your choice. :)

Yeah I understand the color thing. I must have changed my mind a million times. I would pick a color and say thats it love it then I would see another color and it changed. Drove my painter crazy. The ford maroon is a gorgeous color. That was on my list. Good luck

Since my project has drug on for so long, I have been back and forth on colors also. It's a tough decision. I know I want to pick something that's not a fad so it doesn't get old looking at it over time. Tough decision.

Hopefully, your wiring job won't take long and we get past this shelter at home stuff.

I've got a small update on the car. The car is out getting wiring and the A/C installed. The wiring for the tail light section has been neatened up. The A/C has been mocked up and some of the hoses for the heat have been changed to the -10 AN and run to the heat control valve. I needed different A/C fittings because of all the changes with inter cooler and pumps. But it's just wait for the fittings to be delivered.

Here's the challenges you run into when you run out of room. That RS headlight door has stung me a few times. We put a regular 90 there and moved the charge port.

There was more progress. I'm running a Dakota Digital RTX gauge set up with a D.D. cruise control, fan controller, BIM box and because it is a connect and cruise kit the gear Shift indicator sensor, since the GM setup doesn't send a signal for which gear your in..

The trans was tight for connecting the controller wiring, the connector was too close to the floor. Brian dropped the spacer I had to get my drive train angle and took about 1/2" off the spacer and now the plug fits by 1/4". He tigged it back together and painted it up, and now were done with that.

All the A/C fittings, a-10 for the heater hose and Gates shrink clamps showed up today. Those Gates clamps wow some people think their Gold Speedway motors had them on E bay I saw $28 I send a message to them asking how many for that price they say 1 I sent them a message back but not to order. I got them for $3.59 after checking for an hour, and after I ordered them found them for $2.10. Guess I should have looked longer lol

I changed my mind daily on the color. Every car I have built I always new what color I wanted but not this one. I'd pick a color and say I love it thats it. Then in a few days I would be trolling around on Google and see something else lol. It's definitely a tough choice. Good luck. Just remember u may someday sell it so u have to keep that in mind too. It’s going under the dash either above the pedals or just along side of them. I left the exact placement up to him.

BIM needs to be accessible imho. Glovebox or somewhere similar. I have had to use the diagnostic display and reprogram the bus address a couple of times. It will be a beeotch to do that with it buried under the dash.

Come to think about it the same with the gear display and fan controller, they need programming. Will be tough if they are not accessible.

Why not mount the dryer where they are normally mounted on the condenser? Why not put the charge ports by the AC compressor for easy access?

The dryer won't fit because of my inter cooler hoses. That's where they're going to go.

How close are your RS doors when their open?

Really really close lol. It would actually touch the upper heat exchanger hose but I added a stopper so the door wouldn’t fully open the entire way. The door still goes out of sight. I could easily move the condenser over slightly if I wanted to but I’m happy with the set up.

I did the same as Randy except I ran my intercooler hoses down and around to under the passenger fender which is where I mounted the pump. I can fit a piece of paper between the head light door and the hoses but nothing much wider.:twothumbs

Smooth67 He told me he used machine screws with nut on the back side.

I got a couple more pictures of the wiring, Dakota Digital just about all wired. Most of the A/C hoses done accept for one,I needed another piece of hose that's on it's way.

I went by to bring the battery an some other parts and to see how the car is going, first time since this Covid crap started making us all inmates at our own houses. I got a few more pictures of the wiring.

We decided to mount the Vapor Worx controller in front of the battery for ease of adjustment if it's ever needed. It comes dialed in for the LSA crate engine.

Everything that was in plastic split loom is now in braided split loom. I'm having him put expanded braid cover on the A/C and heater hoses to help them match. If they pick up too much dust later, I can remove them.

Thanks guys, it's amazing how much room this stuff takes up. and they all inter connect just to add some fun to the mix. When I first went to me him his garage yard boat was all amazingly well kept. His lawn ( even with our drought) was better than Fenway parks . Even with watering mine is struggling to be brown and not just disappear, so I know his work

Let me try this again!! I had this whole update done and was checking for spelling clicked behind a word to add an s...... wiped the whole thing out. I've made dumb mistakes before but this is twice in two days.. Light a candle for me I'm about to launch the keyboard into the fish tank.

The wiring for the digital Dakota Digital controllers for the gauges is done accept for re installing it once the wiring behind it for other things is checked for room and done.

The NuRelic wiring for the power windows is in, the door boots and wiring for the motors is all in. As far as the switches go, I'm putting four in the console so I can control them all. I also picked up two extra with harnesses to install at each rear window. For back seat drivers to cool they're jets.
The console will have power going to the button on the shifter for the line lock for when I install the solenoid. There will also be Key on power and one always hot. I'll be installing a couple of phone charging docks.

These A/C and heater hoses will be covered in expandable braid to help match the other hoses and wiring

The dimmer for the Dakota gauges is down where the emergency brake handle would be. You can see it to the lower left, it's aluminum now but will be changed to something the size of a tire valve cover in black.

Vapor Worxs wired direct to Battery with 20 amp fuse. Brian commented how great Carl from Vapor Worxs was with all his questions, he took the time that was needed to complete the install. To the left is a 150 amp circuit breaker for all power going to the car and next to it is the kill switch to shut power and it has a jumper with a 7 amp fuse to keep power for ECU Radio and such.

He installed the dash to start setting all the parameters for fans, and such.

He told me the passenger fender is back on, and now he's going to install the Dash and the dimmer for the gauges. This cool weather we're getting this week is going to be good for him to work in the garage.

Thanks Clint, as anybody knows color is the toughest thing to nail down. I like the F150 Ruby Red Metallic with grey accent. There's an orange I'm in love with ( I really like it !)but I don't want to use a tri coat, with the same grey accent color. I'm trying to get a grip on it but it's so tough.

I agree. Build to suit yourself, not the next owner, unless you're building it specifically to sell in which case paint it red or blue, the two most popular colors if you're not a car dealer.

I recently finished up a 67 Cougar and we had similar colors in mind as you however we knew the customer was going to drive the car a lot and didn't want to get too crazy with the color if there was an accident or oops and we had to go back in and repair something. He really liked Ford Ruby Red and house of color Kandy Brandy Whine. We came up with this custom mix in PPG DBC that was a single stage basecoat clear and it pops pretty well for that.

If the moon doesn't fall from the sky and squish me like a bug, or like the last one I was going to buy ( Oh I forgot my cousin wanted it!) YUP. I'll be getting a used 7000 lb Backyard Buddy lift installed next Tuesday!! 5-8 year old. I've looked forever and finally found this on from a company that sells new lifts they are installing it. It has some rust on the floor pads and a little on some hardaware that I'll take care of when it gets here.

This is where you car stays until your body builder nephew come to rescue you and help push the car up those short ramps on your new lift. His son was in the GYM about 20 miles away ready to work out his father said we needed help, then told him never mind. Right after we got done he comes in ready to help. I'm a lucky man.

Very cool, congrats! I have a backyard Buddy lift also, Great lift you will love it and wonder how you got along without it for all these years! One suggestion, I added one extra panel to my garage door. This raises the tracks up an additional 18” This gives you more clearance to raise the car up and still operate the garage door.

Thanks Pat, checking out your lift was why I thought a bout the BYB, used but in great shape. Mine is the regular height lift not the tall like yours. My door is 8' ceiling is 12' and the tracks are at 10' and on the out side of the post of the lift. I was planning on using the hi lift tracks but I might not need them. Tomorrow I'm going to get in touch with the guy who's putting in my Speed tech Chicane kit (if it gets here in time) and welding up my exhaust He's excellent with the tig . He'll probably appreciate the lift too.

Since I got my Tires Michelin 345-30-19 I've been wanting to test fit. Mike at MCC built the rear and said it would be tight, Well he did an awesome job they fit with plenty of room. I worried they might be trouble, but today the car went to the guy who's doing the Chicane kit. He's also doing the exhaust so he needed the tire to make sure the tail pipe would clear. When I got to his place I asked him to try it while I was there, to either let me know I was all set or if I needed an antacid for the gut ache I would have if it was too tight. What a relief the ant acid stays in the cabinet!

I could fit my hand between the tire and the fender as far as my knuckles. He's also going to weld the DSE frame connector brackets to the sub, they'll bolt to the connector.

I didn't weld any into my fellow when I did the floor I don't know why but I didn't. I kind of like the BMR bolt ins so I'm thinking of purchasing them and then fab whatever is needed to tie them to my speedtech front sub

The frame connectors are DSE welded in the floor. When I started it was going to be a complete restoration, then I found this site and came over to the dark side ( as far as keep it stock guys go ) and there was no looking back. Lol

Welder @akuma.fab said the distance was about 3/4" at that spot of the picture and up above at the closest is 1/2". No measurement at the outside yet.

I just got some pictures of the work on my exhaust, he made an X pipe to fit around the 4l85. This trans is a lot longer than a turbo 350 Here's a few pictures.

This has me concerned. I'm planning to have the exhaust coated, I don't think they can do anything for the the flex coupler. I'm going to make a heat shield if there's room, I'll also put heat shield over the trans cable.

I like that, built in driveshaft loop. If the U-joint pops it'll bang around but you won't high-jump through the air.

Also, those flex pipes don't have to go there, they just have to be somewhere between the engine and the first solid exhaust mounting point on the body/frame. You could move them a foot or so further back and put a thinner coated pipe where those are now. You'll get more clearance for the heat shield for the trans lines that way as well.

The X pipe necks down to a little over 3" so I talked to him and he's going to make one that is bigger at the X to increase flow.

I got the car back from the welder, partially done. He did the sub frame connectors and the exhaust but, said he couldn't do the main thing I wanted done, the coil over conversion. It ended up being a lesson learned that I don't seem to be getting through this Portuguese Cabeca.
Now it's time to find someone else to do it. Again:pat:

I got some work on the plumbing for the heatexchanger The lower tubing at the bottom was easy three 90's welded up from pump to exchanger.

The top for the return was a little harder finding room for the tubing, the A/C line and the RS door. A little trim on the door, re arranging the A/C line and a hole through the rad support with an AN fitting for the hose. Making the hose fit on the supercharger around the fuel rail crossover. Everything will either be anodized or painted.

It looks like I'm getting something CNC ported, just not what I wished for.
Since the end of 2019 I've been trying to get my hip replaced . First covid 19 then no room in the hospital, all appointments full for 6 months. Last week I got a date for surgery December 15th. No car parts just my pelvis being robotically CNC'd for the new hip. Merry Christmas to me!

Between now and then ten appointments. One was to meet the surgeon. I don't mind the surgery just the down time with the car so close to first startup. I'm going to do what I can before then.
I hope I'll get to post another update.

Hi guys, The hip is amazing! When I went for my therapy and they checked my mobility numbers I was ahead of most people whey they finished therapy. I could do stairs with one foot in front of the other three weeks after the surgery. Snow and crappy weather kept me in the house I didn't want to take a digger.
The only problem was they sent me home the afternoon of the surgery with pain meds. (which I never needed) and an antibiotic. The next morning I took one of the antibiotics when the therapist was checking vitals and had me get up. My BP dropped, turned white, not making any sense totally out of it. Ambulance ride back to the hospital oxygen IV the whole works. For four days they couldn't get my BP up all my vitals and blood work was way out of whack. I spent the next 5 day in there across from the nurse station, they couldn't figure it out. The last day I reminded them I was allergic to Ceclor They said your on another pill that is in the family with that. Guess what! They stopped it and I was 90% better the next day. Recovering from the antibiotic took 4-5 weeks, and my balance still isn't great yet. Every once in a while if I go under the car on the lift and tip my head back I look like a drunk trying to walk on ice trying to stay on my feet. So I still have to be careful. Just got back from 3 weeks visiting family in Florida a week ago so going to try to get it running, its already close.

Wow thats pretty scary. Glad they got it figured out. That could of been bad. As far as the getting under the car and tilting head back i get that same thing but i guess its just from being old lol. So many people give up and sell the car as projects. You have hung in there and it will be worth it in the long run.Good luck with everything and the start up.

That's a scary situation - I'm glad they figured it out! I guess that's why they have those long forms where they ask about allergies. Is the head tilt vertigo something they expect to go away?

I just want to say thank you for all the encouragement over the years here and on other forums/social media. There's so much more to life than these cars, but it's something we share a passion for and I love hearing that yours is close to running. It's been 15years since you started this thread. It's mind blowing how far you've come with this car from those early photos of a carcass. The final push will have huge payoff!

I've been in Florida for the last 3 weeks my brother was in the hospital with chest pain and they found out a section of his heart is damaged. It caused his kidneys to fail so I'm trying to help him get his stuff set up. I couldn't stay home with him here sick. I'm 68 he's 78 and was in good shape. Now he has trouble getting the mail so I'll be here for a couple more weeks or how ever he needs me. Thanks for checking in.
