Well here's a little update. I put some Howe tall ball joints and tie rod ends on the car. The only part thats was Tuff was taking a hammer to my newly powder coated spindles. BRRRRRRR! Here's a shot of them installed
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2012/02/000_1028-1.jpg
Here you can see the tall tie rod end before I bolted it up, and the Kore 3 C6 Z51 brackets. Tobin has some awesome parts, very well made.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2012/02/000_1027-1.jpg
I installed a set of Speed Tech aluminum hubs with 1/2 studs.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2012/02/000_1030-1.jpg
I got some of Kore 3's braided brake lines 5 pieces and their new brackets for the big old style Ford bearings to install my Z 51 rear brakes. Its a custom kit because on the offset on my axles. Tobin sent me a shim kit and it fit perfect. Their not installed yet but hear's some pictures.

Small update finished plumbing the front brakes and added the drop line for the rear end. Front brakes should be on for good. ( Hope I didn't jinx myself )
I'm pulling the rear out so I can make up the brake lines for it and shim the brackets for the calipers then back in it goes.

I attached the Kore 3 brackets. ( Nice Stuff ) Then I started shimming the brake calipers, tedious because the axles offsets are not exact for this kit. Tobin was great answering all my many questions. I just came in from the garage almost 1 AM. But that part is done. Now it will be making up the brake lines for the rear end. Here are a few pictures.

My buddy and I went to work on plumbing in my master and prop block Friday. The Inline Tube lines for the master won't fit because I used a Hydro boos and adjustable prop block. So I picked up some of those Copper Nikel lines. They bend very easily and don't corrode. I needed adapters because of the size of the ports on the master so we used brass fittings. I'm not sure if I will have these line coppied in stainless.
Here's a couple of picture of what we did.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2012/02/000_1048-1.jpg
The lines are up against the steering box in this picture but have been moved to clear it. You can see the two top copper Nikel lines and the one from the prop valve to the left brake.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2012/02/000_1052-1.jpg
In the picture above these are the brass adapters I'm not too happy with I'd like to get the proper fittings and stainless lines.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2012/02/000_1050-1.jpg
This is what it looks like from the front. We just need to make the bracket to hold the block.
Let me know what you think
Motown 454

Well the master for the clutch was a tight fit. Tried mounting it in the spot Kiesler suggested but with my Hydro boost it would not fit. I had to move it to wards the drivers side a little and down a touch. Then I installed the line for the throw out bearing before I bolted it up. The rod to the clutch pedal was still in line with the master so it should be good. Now to try some wiring.
Here are a few pictures

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2012/02/000_1070-1.jpg
The cap screw is pretty close to the brake pedal but has enough room.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2012/02/000_1071-1.jpg
We also threw in the steering column temporarily.

The brake lines went out Monday to be made in stainless.
I did some more work on the trunk and wiring. Finished painting the trunk last week re installed the kill switch and ran the power cables to the panel pass throughs on the tow board. I also ran the rear body harness to the back of the car then got held up waiting for supplies

Thanks everyone! It great to have the ability to make progress in my hands and just be able to walk out the door and have the car right there. I orded a Delphi crimper I'm still waiting for so I can get back on the wiring. I'd like to get a Vintage air evap kit which is just the stuff on the inside of the car so I can install it before moving on to the EFI controller and the rest of the wiring. I was going to get the mock up case they have but thats makes twice the work.

We had a tuff summer and I had a hip replaced that I'm recovering from. I haven't got into the garage yet. I did get a set of injectors I had been needing. plus some stuff for in the garage but noting on the car for a while. Getting close to getting back out there. I started the wiring and thats where we are.
Thanks for checking in on my progress. I'm itching to go do something out there

I'm 17 miles in from the south coast and "hoping"! for a little less then the foot they are calling for. The wind and cold are doing me in I have no ceiling and the heat gets sucked right out as fast as my heater can make it. I got a used 5th gen console to put in the car and it was packed in foam it was so dry in the garage that I looked like a snow man from the static attracting the foam to me. I had to use gloves it was so cold, I spent more time getting the foam off me then unpacking the console.

I'm picking up some parts to install the motor and trans. I have some metric tools but I didn't even have bolts to mount it on the engine stand to get rid of the crate it came in to make some room to move around. I got those the other day so all I need is to decide on a set up to lift the motor. I'd like to do it all in one shot without removing the supercharger. I'm looking at the Mac's pivot engine lifter, they make an adapter for the LS motors. Has anyone used one of these? What do you think of it?
Does anyone know where I can get one of these adapters for the in tank fuel module line connections for the corner pick ups in the VaporWorks tanks? I'm going to check with Carl from Vapor works.

After punishing my self by hand digging a 4'x4'x 42" deep dry well in the front yard Saturday. I was going to get some stone for it today but the weather tuned nasty up here so I got out in the garage. I Changed to an old set of valve covers so the LS lift adapter could fit and finally got the engine out of the crate and on the stand. I'm hoping to prep it and paint some clear on it to help make it easier to keep clean. Then I'll put the Auto Kraft oil pan, motor adapter plates and motor mounts on it and see how its looking. I'll probably try the headers on it to see if there is enough room to run an Improved Racing oil thermostat off the oil filter area.

What do you guys think about the way the engine stand is bolted to the back of the engine, the way the right side is on the two lower bolt holes because of no bolt hole at the 2 o'clock location?

I tried the headers on the motor to see what they looked like for fitting an oil cooler thermostat near the oil filter, it looks kind of tight.

I'm not sure if its too tight to the headers for the Improved Racing oil thermostat to fit without soaking up too much heat and the thermostat staying open because of it.

I started fitting up my Heat Exchanger and condenser this week. I'm leaning mine back towards the radiator support by spacing the top bracket from behind the mounting point of the hood latch. I will need to make a taller aluminum bracket for the top of the HX. The top of the condenser has been notched already and the hood latch is being trimmed. I made a cardboard template of the bracket that mounts to the Rad support, hood latch, upper and lower valances to see how much I need to trim the bracket..

Spent most of the day out in the garage today. Installed the AutoKraft oil pan and dip stick, then I washed the motor down and sprayed it with Eastwood's 2K High temp ceramic gloss clear. I'm no painter by any stretch of the word but I'll tell you it came out nice! The nozzle was great, nice fan pattern and it worked great. I also cleared my Street & Performance LS swap adapters. They look great.

Then we will change the supercharger lid to the ZL1, and put the swap plates on. then see what we do from there.

Went out in the garage today. We got the ZL1 lid on and the swap plates and motor mounts. We had to grind down the spacer plates from the back of the poly motor mounts so they would sit flat against swap plates, then I sprayed them with some paint to prevent any rust build up. If I would have thought of it before I painted the swap plate, I would have routed them out to fit. Lesson learned.
I had -12 AN fittings put on the the ZL1 lid so I can use a -12 to-16 hose fittings to matchup to my Stewart EMP water pump which has a 1" hose ends, it should make a difference in the IAT2 temps with more flow.

I spent most of yesterday in the garage working on getting the transmission prepped and clear coated. First I had to go and pick up a new respirator my old one failed on me when I painted the engine. I didn't smell anything but boy did I get dizzy and a head ache. Not good!
I washed the transmission down and sprayed it and the dust cover with the Eastwood 2K Clear. They look pretty good. This paint is easy to spray because I'm usually heavy handed when I spray but no sags with this paint.

Yesterday I went to my friends house and got his engine crane. Took it home and got it assembled and put the Mac's lift plate on the engine. Then the dreaded honey do list reared its ugly head and I was toast for the rest of the day!
But today was a good day! We hooked up the crane to the engine and rolled it over and within 30 minutes it was in! When we tried the first time the bolt on the driver side went right in. I couldn't believe my good luck, then the other side was not even showing the hole in the frame mount. CRAP ! We put the jack under the drivers side and lifted and I saw daylight on the passenger side mount. I worked a screw driver in and the bolt went right in. These plates were an excellent fit. Now if the headers fit with them like they are supposed to we'll be golden.
Here are some pictures.

I have an Auto Kraft oil pan on here and it has plenty of room with the factory frame mounts and steering. Not touching anywhere. I turned the steering both ways and no problem. I used the backing plates that came with the poly mounts. If I see there is enough room, I might try it without them but if it helps the headers tuck up tight to the floor they will stay. I have plenty of room above the Transmission because I had the tunnel raised just incase the T56 I was going to use was tight.

A little update for today. We relieved some pressure on the frame mounts with the engine crane and got the mounts loosened and got enough slack to push the trans over to center it. I bought a used X Factor cross member a while back and never realized how its made. It's two maybe 3/16" thick pieces sandwiched together on each side of the trans mount platform. Different for sure. Its for a T 56 but it lines up pretty well. It will take some mods to get it to work but it will let me hold the trans up for us to get my drive line angle figured out.

I have a small update but first a question
If I drop my motor mount point down 1/4"-3/8" will this give me any difference in my tranny mount height or will it just carry the same amount I drop to the mount? How many degrees could I gain either way if dropping the same amount if from the engine mount to the trans mount is 44" ? Or is this a crazy question?
Thanks in advance
Here's the reason why I ask.
This is what I have for space under the oil pan to my frame. about 5/8" I'm close to 3.5 - 4 degrees down now.

Here is what I have between my G Force cross member and the transmission mount. (That's a 2x4 on the flat) I could also use more room to keep the 4l85 lower in the tunnel. I need room for a connection on the drivers side.

If you drop the motor down the rear of the transmission doesn't change but the angle does. That would really bring your driveline angle to 3 degrees. The issue with that then is the other clearance issues you have already noticed. Another thing that will pop up the increase in header angle might place the header collector into the floor. Honestly based off of what I'm seeing on that oil pan i wouldn't drop the engine anymore. Go to amazon and buy yourself a digital angle finder for about $40. Get it close to 3 degrees and you will be plenty fine

Worked in the garage again yesterday. We lifted the motor to get the drivers side header in and put the metal spacer under the trans mount for the test. I got 3.80 degrees down the way it is. The best guess on the frame for level is .40 degrees down so 3.40 for the final angle. The rear needs to be worked on we changed shocks and didn't set ride height.
Both of the ARH headers are in and there is a ton of room on the drivers side, at least an inch away from any tube to the steering box. The collector is within 3/8" of the drivers side floor. The passenger side has plenty of room accept the idler arm was touching at full right lock. I adjusted the stop on the A arm and it's taken care of. The passenger side frame mount needs the upper rear corner trimmed, we will remove 1/2" diagonally. The headers look to have enough room to go back an inch without a problem which would probably take care of the frame mount and idler touching, but make the collector closer to the floor. with the 4l80 it would make the trans even tighter in the tunnel. Moving it forward the idler would prevent it. One thing is the 02 sensors won't fit where they have the bungs on the inside towards the trans on the 4l80 which has a very wide pan on it, but with the narrower T56 should fit. ?
I used a G Force 4l80 cross member and the trans mount needed a spacer. Spaceman made it from 1" square tubing. The only thing is, the cross member is the lowest piece under the car. I can see it being a problem when we hit the road. (figuratively I hope. ).
Here are a few pictures from underneath the car. The headers are even or maybe a little above the bottom of the sub frame.

I tried to clearance the holes on the radiator side to move the plate to the drivers side but it threw off the front piece that bolts to the header panel. Thank god for finish washers. Luckily I stopped before needing them.

Wayne been a while since I looked at this thread. WOW!! I love the power combo you are using, I want a 6 speed for mine but we will see. So much has been accomplished on this car. Amazing work and planning. Looking forward to one day seeing video of you driving it. Me, well I need to get back to plugging away at my son's truck. Lol

Thanks for the heads up John we bolted it in to the core support and header panel. It fit, but we haven't tried the lower panel yet. Right now I have a piece of aluminum fuel line as a spacer. I looked on line for some real spacer with a thicker wall. I'll be ordering that soon.
Thanks windows.

Thanks 68TT, we're being help up right now but for a good reason. Tomorrow I have a plumber coming to install both the pipe and the heater in the garage. It needs to be tapped in to the existing pipe and my wife is terrified of fire since my mother in law had one in the 70's. So for her piece of mind its getting done by the plumber.
Plus after moving my parts around the house for 7 years its like a treasure hunt when I need something.
I use a product for rust removal called Safest Rust Remover it has always done a great job and is safe, unless you move the container for the wife's car to come in for the winter and forget a piece in it over the winter and summer like I did. It ate right through the metal. I think it was the 120 degree days when I didn't go in the garage and open windows. I was amazed. A new one is on its way.

Hey Wayne,
It's great to see some action on your project! My project has been in hibernation it seems like for 3 years! My wife is going to be able to retire (teacher) in May and FINALLY move to Houston with me. It has been a VERY long 3-1/2 years of driving an 8-hour round trip to Louisiana and back every weekend... Let's try and finish our rides this year... that sound good to you??
That's great to hear. Hope it all works and you both can hit the road!

Great going on the engine install, Wayne. Since you're getting a heater installed, putting even a sheet of plastic up on the ceiling will help keep the hot air closer to the floor and help your heat loss until you can put in some insulation up there. Thanks for all the pics. Makes me feel guilty for not working on mine.

Thanks guys.
Today I was working on the wiring for the Big MAXX garage heater. I really need to clean this place up! At work I always told my guys make it safe!!! Today I'm hanging from the trusses and standing on the pump from my 80 gal compressor to get the wires run. I kept looking over my shoulder for the safetyman, but the wires are run just need to tie it in to the heater and run the thermostat and it will be ready for the plumbers to run the gas pipe Monday. They ran the vent out the wall Friday and said they would finish Monday, They must have known I wanted it done then because they brought my about a quarter bushel of clams and little necks. So I did the only thing I could I made a clam boil for me the wife and my daughters family. Brownie points for me ;)

We've been working on the car a few hours a day we installed the RS doors to figure if it would interfere with the intercooler reservoir. I'm going to put it right behind the passenger headlight in the same place Travis (Snappytravis) put his. I had been thinking about putting it there and seeing how nice his is, it was definitely a go.
We made a platform to mount the tank out of aluminum and bolted it in to see how it fit .It will have a piece in the back for a tab to slide into and be bolted 2 or 3 places in the front and be covered with some type of rubber to prevent chafing the tank.
Here's a quick shot of the platform test fit.

We removed the factory balancer and are replacing it with an ATI super dampener. If you guys want a Harmonic dampener check out ATI blems on E Bay,for all types of engines you just need to be patient. Instead of the $465 I got one for $269 for my LSA, it doesn't come with the super charger pulley blem or not. If I had to find the blem on it to save my life the wife could sell the car because I would never find it........ The bolt came right out with my impact wrench.
The problem was getting t he balancer off. We tried with a 3 jaw puller we had, no dice, then I went for an AutoZone loaner, wrong one back again, Then we got another one from AutoZone and it finally got it to move. About 3/16 of an inch, we had to go back to the first puller to finish taking it off, but the loaner was the only thing to get it to break loose.

We also tried the Front accessory drive on for fit. I don't have the A/C compressor yet so that test will have to wait. The throttle body is a ported one from V Max in Florida.

Yesterday we tried to mount the intercooler pump but it didn't work out too well, the hose that goes to the heat exchanger was going to interfere with the radiator so we're moving the bracket.
We installed the Hamburger remote oil filter mount on the frame right behind the radiator. I will be running the -12 oil lines to the filter then to the oil cooler in radiator and back after I make my order for my hose and fitting, soon I hope.

Not much progress this week, we had to move the remote oil filter because of my mistake. The fitting for the oil cooler stuck out further than I remembered and the mount had no room for the fitting. we made a bracket to mount it on the front bar Mike installed to replace the smaller front cross member on the sub frame, then made a bracket for the intercooler pump. I have no welder so everything has to go to Spaceman's house to be welded. There's more room than appears to be.

Hi Did a little work on the car we pulled the motor out and notched the frame for the A/C. First made some estimate tape marks.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2016/06/IMG_09711_zpsleiyltob-1.jpg (http://s172.photobucket.com/user/Hardcore454/media/sub%20frame/IMG_09711_zpsleiyltob.jpg.html)
Then we removed the motor and broke out the air tools and started cutting.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2016/06/IMG_09661_zpsnfmhmtvj-1.jpg (http://s172.photobucket.com/user/Hardcore454/media/sub%20frame/IMG_09661_zpsnfmhmtvj.jpg.html)
Then these cuts
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2016/06/IMG_09701_zpsnkcxieea-1.jpg (http://s172.photobucket.com/user/Hardcore454/media/sub%20frame/IMG_09701_zpsnkcxieea.jpg.html)

We'll fill in the small cut out first then do the final pocket for the Compressor with 1/8" or 3/16" plate.
We also did some work on the remote oil adapter for the hoses. I was going to come straight down with orb to AN fittings then 90 towards the front. But the kick out on the AutoKraft oil pan and my headers were closer than was feasable. We decided to put an orb to An close 90 in the adapter and go above the bump out on the pan with the outlet hose and down then forward with a 120 degree on the return line.
The pan I got was used and the original owner had it powder coated and left the spot where the O Ring sit to seal the adapter bare. This made a lip of thick powder all around the o rings and I didn't think would seal very well. So I removed the adapter and stripped all the powder coat under where the adapter sat to even it out with where the o ring went. While we had it off my buddy Spaceman cleaned up all the sharp edges on the inside of the adapter to help with flow. so when we are ready to put the motor in we can seal up the adapter and be ready for the hoses.

Well my buddy that helps me with the car pulled something in is neck and been out of action for over a week so I'm doing small stuff until we can get his welder down here to finish the frame notch.
I made up some braided hose for the steam line which will go to the Finch hose reducer with a line taped in. I'll make the final hose once I can measure it when the motor is back in the car. Boy it's a tight squeeze going between the Super charger and the water pump, But I got it in.

The only thing is in the last picture the hose is just about touching the water pump so I'll need to put something to protect the hose. (if I can get it in there.)

Got the frame notch all ready to paint .
First the L shaped piece was welded in so it could be welder all the way around and then the top was ground so the next piece would fit tight against it and also be welded in.

When Spaceman gets here tomorrow we'll take a look at the frame connetors where they weld to the back of the frame and decide if we want to do them now or later.
Feels good to be back out here again.
Wednesday
I got a little more done today ground the welds down on the frame and preped it for paint. I used self etching primer and will spray the Black tomorrow.

Today we got the frame notch sprayed black and mounted the lower A/C bracket to the motor for good.

We had to take one frame mount bolt for the notch so I drilled and tapped the frame for another one. I made a 3-1/6" thich washer (plate) to cover both bolt holes to help hold the frame mount istead of two washers with one side on each ground because they are so close together.
Not perfect but it fits right to the slant of the frame stannd.

Worked out in the garage today, we had started to make a top bracket to hold the A/C compressor in the low mount position. We had it together and then the A/C Suction and Discharge Fitting Block for the compressor came in and of course it was going to be too tight on one side so apart it came. I bent up another arm and Spacemwn welded it on. I cleanded it up and primed it today and I'll paint it tomorrow.
Here it is in etching primer.

About 3 weeks ago I sent my headers out to be coated. They came back last week but I was helping my daughter with my grandson he was home sick for the week.
Well I got in last night from my grandson sitting ( too old to say Baby sitting) duties in Virginia. I did some stuff around the house and finnally got to go pick up my headers at UPS. They got in last week while I was away and no one was here to sign for them, so I had them hang on to them so I could get them when I got back.
They went to Jet Hot for thier 2500 degree coating. They look nice I had them do the titanium color. The finish is a lot rougher than the ceramicoat finish. It feels like a 120 or 150 grit sand paper. I like it. I'm not sure how they will be if they need cleaning because of the rough surface. I only had a few minutes so I only got a few pictures of one header. I'll try to get more and better ones tomorrow.

I got in the garage this morning. Spaceman put some fluid in the converter and installed it on the trans. Then we dropped the motor back in it. It's been in and out so many time I think it knows the way on its own. This is the firs time in quite a while you can walk without feeling like your driving through the cones at an autocross.

Did a little in the garage yesterdayI got the headers bolted up. Then I put the remote oil filter back in to measure for the oil cooler lines. I made up the return line from the oil filter to the motor. The radiator's not in so can't do all the hoses. I bought a kit to pressure test the hoses before I put them in, so I tested the hose and left it over night. Still pressurized this morning. Good to go.
Not much to see but here's the hose

I got out in the garage for a few hours today and test fit the oil lines to the remote filter and when the radiator support goes back in I'll plumb the oil cooler in the Radiator.

I spent all day and most of the night in the garage Friday removing mill scale from my brackets we made. Holy moly I wish I was as tough as that crap is!! It took for ever, had to quit because I could feel my neighbor zeroing in on me with his rifle for the compressor running after 11:30. He shouldn't complain there IS 9' between his bedroom and the garage. The next day I used Eastwood fast etch on all of them, then sprayed them with high zinc content primer. Then some black paint. Thank God for my reperator, that zinc paint will kill you quick.

We spent 3 + hours in the garage Tuesday trying to get the trans bolted to the motor, and it kicked our A$$. It was definitely not our day. It had been in 3 times before and it wasn't going in this time that day so, it was time to run and come back to fight another day.
We got a fresh start Wednesday and in 45 minutes it was in and bolted up! I guess the engine wasn't at the right angle to mate up Tuesday. We got it in and made room for the electrical connection to the trans (Clearanced the floor), and had to call it a day. In less than 1/4 the time we got a lot more done. Sometimes it better to step away and chill until cooler heads prevail.
No pictures today, maybe tomorrow.

I was out there all day today and got some stuff done. I installed the HX pump and oil filter, then I put some hose seperators to keep the oil lines away from the headers.
I put a rubber liner between the brackets and the mounting point so I won't get any vibration from the pump.

Nope Just left loose so I could get to my oil cooler hoses, they were only on loose so I needed room to tighten them. The headers are tight to the block where the line run to the front, and if you are using a 4l85 the bungs for the 02's need to be on the outside not on the inside (facing trans) like they come from ARH. There is actually plenty of room near the steering box than it looks like. If you need any pictures of anywhere special I can get some for you. But I'm a hack photographer.

Wayne, reading back through some of your more recent updates is inspiring me to get back in the shop! Lol. Looking good with the progress. I like the remote oil filter setup, and I have been debating added one to my son's engine when we install it. I was looking at his and I can mount the filter inside the frame rails near the trans to keep the engine bay clean and help help cool the oil through the distance from the engine heat. Keep the progress pics coming, Looking forward to the first drive video from you!!

yes, if you don't mind, can you get pictures of the clearance near your transmission at the linkage area with the header bolted fully down? my ARH headers clear beautifully everywhere except the collectors are burried into my linkage. ARH said that the headers will not work with the auto transmission (although their website does not advertise that fact).
have you fit up the headers with your actual shifter linkage in place yet? the shifter bracket is what's in my way. mine are 2" primary on 3.5" collectors though.

Mine is the same way The newer 4l85s have a long linkage rod that comes out of the trans for the connection to the linkage. The older version has a short rod sticking out. I was told by someone who works on these transmissions that you can change the long rod to the shorter one which he says is an easy job.
Here's how tight mine is

Got on the computer and ordered some parts today. I ordered a B&M Automatic Shifter, Stealth Pro Ratchet® 4 Speed #81120 in Black pistol grip. I was going to try to use the Factory 5th gen Camaro shifter and console then I saw a 5th gen with a B&M shifter and manual shift boot in the console and decided to go that way. it looked nice. I got the extra shift knob with the Lineloc button for it.
I also got a set of Truck Lites LED headlight bulbs for it.
I also ordered some Joe Gibbs BR30 breakin oil for start up.
I'm getting ready to order some more XRP hose and fittings to plumb my Hydroboost/ power steering , heat exchanger and remote oil filter.

Should be a nice motor in that. Now I need to post the Keisler Viper perfect fit kit I had for the Camaro.
I just got some parts in, I ordered my XRP hoses and fittings for my intercooler and Hydro boost plumbing. They came in yesterday. I got the new shifter in this week its a B&M Pro ratchet shifter in Black pistol grip.

I haven't had much to post lately but, I've been in the garage getting ready to get back at it. I had bought some parts for the motor. I did a cam swap , I got a Brian Tooley cam kit. I also picked up a Fuelab filter on the recommendation from Injector Dynamics, yet to be installed.

More power and it takes a little from the lower RPM to hopefully better traction. If that's possible. Oh and I won't mind the extra rumble from the exhaust.

Last week I went on an excursion in the garage. I had been reading to find out if my supercharger had the solid isolator or the problem some spring isolator. All the reading on forums said it's the spring isolator a call to a GM dealer agreed. So to get ahead of it I decided to change it to the solid one since I had it and the water pump and everything was off the motor. Every one was pretty sure the super charger didn't have to be lifted if I could get to the bottom bolt on the snout. We got it. We broke the snout loose and it couldn't make it over the valley cover breather tube. Then we lifted to S/C and the snout came right off SWEET! Wrong! my crate motor shipped with the solid isolator that GM was sure it didn't have.
A whole day wasted and a whole lot of curse words I haven't said in years. At least I'm sure it good to go.

Last winter I started smoothing the factory accessory drive to give it a brushed look. I did most of the flat sides and left the inside pockets alone. I finally got around to finishing them and clear coating them. I used Eastwood's 2K Aero Spray Matte Clear, I think gloss would have been better.

Next will be where to fit the power steering reservoir. I'm thinking either on the bracket that holds the alternator( If there's room ) or above the Hydroboost it will have two short returns from brakes and power steering pump and one long return to bring fluid back to the pump. not sure if that would work???

Wayne, as far as I know, all reservoirs gravity feed so any place higher than the pump would be adequate. The length of the lines should be immaterial. It's always difficult when you run out of space. :)

We did a little in the garage today we decided to put the power steering reservoir next to the brake master. So I took the bracket that holds the Alt,and steering pump off and made a hole above the pump so the return hose could come up and over the bracket then between the bracket and the valve cover. From there it will run over to the reservoir mounted on the inner fender.
Here's where I made the hole for the hose to come up over the bracket.

I put the top heat exchanger line on to test fit. I was going to use short pieces of hose to connect the bends I had to use to get under the radiator support. When I did I figured a way to just have the tubing welded with the angles I needed and weld a -16 fitting on the end to connect the hose that goes to the supercharger lid. The hose you see on it is just to hold it so the welder can set it up to weld.
It comes up on the other side of the Rad support.

I made up the steam hose, but would like some opinions. I want to run the hose under the Radiator hose and tap in the bottom of the fitting at about 5 o clock. Where it goes in the fitting is higher than the highest point on the engine that has cooling water. I think it will work but would rather check before I put any Gates shrink clamps on it.

In this picture you can see the Radiator hose I made up with a coupler between two pieces of hose. It needs to be seperated in the middle so it goes on the waterpump a little further.
Also in this picture you can see the hose from the intercooler reservoir going into the pump. Because of the way I had to get around the fan it was collapsing a little so I ordered some XRP flat wound internal support coil to keep it open. I installed it and installed the fitting and it's good to go now.

We made some progress since my last post we installed a couple of fittings on the power steering reservoir and I plumbed it in to the hydroboost and mounted on the fender well. I used XRP hose and AN fittings made for power steering pressure.

After talking to Injector Dynamics who recommended a 10 micron filter, I picked up a Fuelabs ceramic filter good for all fuels. Then we marked up some hoses that will need to be sent out to be crimped. This pic only shows where it will be mounted, it still needs to be attached to the firewall. I.D. wanted it as close to the injectors as I could get it.

It's not as close as it looks to the header, plus it has a heat protection cover on it. The bottom of the filter will be moved over to mount it plumb.

I got the DSE RS electric door motors installed and tried them with a power supply. To get them in we had to pull the radiator and the intercooler tank to get at the bolts. But at least it's done now.
I started on the gauge pod for my console, I'm trying to do something like Jeff (jwcarguy) did on his console. Now that I tried I'm finding out I'm blind as a bat and have trouble cutting a straight line no matter what I use. lol
I took a few pictures of my attempt. First I measured everything to get an idea where to start. Then I trimmed the Gauge pod, it got trimmed more after this picture.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2017/07/DfhaBW-1.jpg (https://imageshack.com/i/pmDfhaBWj)
Then cut out the console trim piece. This one had the change dish. (no gauges)
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2017/07/tmU3U8-1.jpg (https://imageshack.com/i/pmtmU3U8j)

I had to change one bolt on the drivers side for the brake kit. No one had one anywhere around me not even my go to Aquidneck fasteners. I had to order them from McMaster-Carr, which they were great I ordered 2AM Monday and had them 4pm Tuesday. Can't ask for anything better than that. The drivers side is all put back together with the caliper all shimmed and ready to go with the e brake inside the hub.
Now the passenger side is another story. I put all the shims on the axle because of the weird off set i had made ( totally my fault ) so we put the bolts in and start tightening them up, grade 8 fine thread with crush nuts. ( slightly out of round for a locking effect.) First three going fine just to snug for an even clamping. Go around again to finish tighten same three fine fourth one Seized like you wouldn't believe! I'm not a little guy and my buddy has hands twice my size, it kicked the crap out of us!! Wouldn't budge we tried everything we had. Only one thing left. Die grinder with a cut off wheel. First we had to dis connect the coil over for room then get ready for some fun. we sliced the head of the bolt and he got under there and chiseled the rest off. which went pretty easy for what we were expecting it to be. Luckily I ordered 2 extra bolts. But that ended the fun for the day.
This is the one that's done

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2017/08/UPYbbQ-1.jpg (https://imageshack.com/i/poUPYbbQj)
and the cause of the problem. When I had the rear built it got old Ford big bearings and I wanted the in hat parking brake and it needed different off set on the axle. so a special kit had to be put together. The kit is great but getting the housing ends to work is all the fun.

Mike, Jeff (jwcarguy) has one in his car and that's where I saw it in Carbon Fiber and liked it. I was thinking of rosewood to match the pieces for the radio and the left side of the dash, not sure it would be too much. Maybe a color to go with my choice of stripe to tie it to the outside of the car. Another paint decision. :pat:
Thanks Ray, I was looking for another console piece to see how I liked the Z/28 one. The only thing is I already have all the Auto Meter gauges with the full sweep they won't fit in the factory style.

I have a billet gauge panel, (now sold at ThePartsPlace) and a factory style dash panel that you need to use the Metron part in. The factory style part gets cut up and most of the middle is removed. Then you install the billet piece between the two out side parts of the factory pieces. They give you little clips which I didn't have much luck with. So I put it together and epoxied it in place. Not sure if this was a good idea but it's what I did.
I started working on the dash, here's how it went.

I installed the temp sensor on my Aluminum Hugh's trans pan and got it on the car. It's the shallow one and it is only as deep as my oil pan on the motor so it doesn't hang down.

I think some variance in the color add interest. Engines that are completely the same color don't really show that much detail. Everything just gets washed out. That's just my opinion...

Well Santa was good to me this year with everything but warm weather and time to get in the garage. He did send me some goodies for the car.
The first is a Twist Machine paddle shifter, Looks pretty good.

Next I got an E-Stop electric parking brake.

The weather is a little bit warmer so I might be able to warm up the garage to a tolerable temp.
