      Brake kit with AFX spindles

Just trying to get an idea of what people here are running for brake kits with AFX spindles..

Cheapest i could find was a 6piston wilwood kit.. 1900 for the fronts.. but then i would need brake lines / master cylinder / proportioning valve as well! Yikes!

oh yeah, this is for a c5/c6 hub just incase you're not familiar with the AFX spindles!

Most of my clients are running the amazingly great Touring-Classics C5 front brake kit. It is $650 complete with calipers, rotors, brake lines, and master, and bolts right on to our spindles.
They are a sponsor here too, check them out. -------->

I was looking at their kits just today. Can you honor the $650 price for the c5 kit with everything you listed above. This is considerably cheaper than what they offer on their site. Please PM me with a price for my 71' Nova if at all possible. Thanks-

Those were my thoughts as well however they don't include a spindle as they refer to using the original drum spindle as well as the drum hub which you send to them for machining and installation of wheels studs free with purchase of their kit. I may have to give them a call tommorrow to get the story straight.

(thinking out loud) I wonder if those brakes will clear the average 17" wheel? Rotor diameter?

I'm fully aware of the potential problems. I know some 17's will not clear that brake set-up and my PSE wheels are not available in 18's.
Wouldn't want to change wheels since my 69 is probably the only El Camino on the planet with pindrive knockoffs.
I want the AFX spindles but not if I have to change brakes (now have Baer Track 13's) AND wheels. Would be willing to sell my C4 brakes but not the wheels.

is there any reason NOT to go 18? other than price obviously.. does it start to hurt performance?

      With a 5/16" spacer they will fit a C5 caliper on a 17 x 9.5 Vintage Wheel Works V45.

Wow, you guys really took off on this one...

      NvrDun71-
The Touring Classic brake kit I mentioned is specifically for our AFX spindles. It mounts different than factory because our spindles have the brake brakcet forged into the spindle. The kit for a stock spindle requires more to complete, hence the higher price.

      Clint-
I think with a small spacer the brakes will clear. Print out a template and measure your wheels.

I just ordered the AFX Spindle (haven't recieved it yet) but I have been talking to Baer about a brake kit and got a new part number yesterday for my 69 Camaro. Part # 4301157, but be aware it's not even in their computer's yet - you need to speak with Rick from Baer. I think it includes a bracket, caliper, rotors, pads, SS brake lines and master cylinder. Also no pricing as of yet, but I should get it today. Also as JoeleanlS said you need to watch the caliper offset on the C5 brakes - they are about 1/2 bigger than what is required for the stock hub. For my Budnik rims I am going to have to run a 1/2 inch spacer or change the rims a little - since they are still in production.

PS. Thanks for all the help Tyler, you have been great setting all this up.

Just got off the phone with T Byrne Mortorsports, the cost for the front Baer kit from them is $949.00 plus shipping. That's only $20.00 more the the Baer Brake kit for the stock hub.

How is the Baer kit different than the Touring Classics kit?
