i have not done the rear yet but the front was cake.....get the right bolts...mount the special ls1 brake braket to the spindle, which might need to be milled donw to be flush, mine did....get some one to turn donw the od on the hub to acomodate the ls1 rotor...press out the old wheel studs and get new longer ones about 2 1/4"....mount the caliper braket to the ls1 braket then the caliper..get the right lines and your set...short version....

      69 LS1 Calipers

I've installed them on my 69. Their is one additional modification to the front spindles that is required....you need to shave off approximately 1/8" of metal off the top boss area so the calipers will line up correctly.

I'm got a problem with the rear caliper on the driver side which I just noticed yesterday while under the car. The caliper position (mounted on the back side of the axle)interfears with the position of the stock shock location. I've been told that I need two right side calipers so I can rotate it to the front of the axle therefore allowing the mounting of the shock in the stock position....(picture attached of rear mounting caliper)

You'll also have fun matching the bubble flair metric brake lines with the stock double flair fittings!

So to do the front brake conversion you need the drum spindles? I take it that means the disk spindles don't work?

I've done some forum searches and seen some information on the ls1 swap however is there a step by step guide that anyone has put together? Maybe with specific part numbers as applicable?

you can use either spindle is is just the top boss will need to be machined...the drum spindle takes way less machinery..this means when you buy the cnc braket for this swap where it bolts to the spindle...the lower bolts to the steering arm....the upper bolts to the spindle (on the drum it is the huge threaded hole wehre the springs are attahced to ..mine didnt need but a tiny bit to get the braket flush.....
you only need a few things
spindle and drum hub (which needs to be machined)
98+ ls1 caliper and caliper braket
      longer studs
      brake lines and cnc braket
rotors and pads and some bolts
then use stock bearings i am almost done with mine and hope to get it onthe road soon
there is some part #'s on this site
