Rocket Racing on a 68 Camaro

I have a 68 Camaro with Ride Tech suspension (including TruTurn), Wilwood brakes, and a stock width (60”) Currie rear end.

The car is getting mini tubs installed but I can not afford Forgelines, etc so I am looking at using Rocket Racing Attacks instead.

I am subject to off the shelf offsets so here is my question.

Rear- On a 18x11 inch wheel does 7.0 sound like the best offset?

Front- On a 18x9 inch wheel does 5.5 sound like the best offset?

Any input would be appreciated.

call ride tech they will know max off set on back spacing and as far as rocket racing wheels go I like mine and I even got them powder coated .212993

Rocket use to make a 18X11 with a 7 inch BS that would fit a stock width 9 inch but they discontinued it.

They now make a 18X12 with a 6 inch BS.

Does someone know if that would work too.

I have not installed tubs yet so I can’t measure. I am trying to go with a non-custom wheel to save money. Otherwise I would just order Forgelines and be done with it.

My issue also is that I have a brand new stock width Ridetech rearend. I really don’t want to have it shortened.

18x11 7" is +25mm offset. 18x12 6" is -13mm offset. That's a 38mm shift in wheel centerline towards the fender! And the 12" wide rim will increase the effective tire section with by .4" (~10mm).

Now, unless the fender lip is really close to the rim edge height-wise, you could simply downsize the tire. But whatever width would have fit the 11" perfectly, you'd need to downsize the tire significantly. And since the tire is centered on the rim, that means you need to double however much offset change and 1/2 the tire stretch. So if I math all this correctly you're looking at a tire that's 43mm smaller.

Don't know what tire would fit that combo, but making up numbers just to illustrate:
Let's say a 325 would have fit perfectly with the 11" wheel. You'd need a 325-43= 282mm. So in this made up example you'd need to drop to a 275mm. And then even if you do that, the rim ends up too wide for that width tire.

Really you need to get your rearend/tube all assembled and measure and go from there. That's the only way you'll be sure the setup will work.

I'm running DSE mini tubs, TCI Torque arm suspension with 12 bolt rear with 18x12 Rocket attacks 6"BS. I ended up having to run a spacer to get it just right since I am running 335/18s on the rear. Be glad to help you and take some measurements if it would help you. It may not be a good comparison since you are running a 9" rear though.

How much are you asking for the set? Whats the front?
