Is it safe to run a 275/45 on a 16x8 wheel?

I have them on 17x8s with no problem.

I would stick with a 255/50/16 on a 16x8.

Andrew, I'm running a 255/50/16 currently on my 16x8's. I noticed that Hoosier had a 275/45 and I can get the V700 in a 265/45 as well. This would be for autocross purpose only. Hrmmm. Thanks for your 2 cents :)

Thanks for bringing it to my attention that you can now buy a wider than p255 tire for my 16 in. Corvette wheels. For the longest time 255 was the widest tire available from anyone. Maybe now some of the other tire manufacture will start to make wider tires for them again.
The great thing about it is that they are dot race tires for the rain which will make for a nice 2nd set of tires and wheels for autocross racing.

Hell yeah buddy. I was stoked when I saw 275/45/16 with Hoosier. 265/45 is still nice from the Kumho V700 line too. DOT and everything. I priced out widening my wheels. 130 a peice Canadian. Sure seems cheap, but their rep and quality is awesome.

I would look at what the manufacturer recommends.
I'm running 275/50/17 on 17x8 wheels, and they work fine.

I can say first hand...
the Kumho 710 265/45WR16 will CRUSH the Hoosier's
By far the best auto-x tire ever made
