View Full Version : EZ clip ac hoses and fittings

I am going to use EZ clip ac and heater hoses on my car. I originally was going to use stainless Aeroquip fittings with braided hose but it is such a pain to work with I have changed my mind.

I think I will piece together a setup for the various fittings I need. Where does everyone buy their parts from? I generally go right to summit for things like this but am open to other vendors if prices are better. Thanks.

Anyone looking for some new Aeroquip fittings or hoses? LOL!

This kit has most of what you need for the AC side:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Air-E-Z-Clip-Refrigerant-Universal-Hose-Kit-547002-VTA-547002-VUR-547002/223171007431?epid=1543515886&hash=item33f60753c7:g:0WMAAOSwfr1bsmZ1

I ordered one of these knockoff kits because the price was too good to resist:

Check hosewarehouse.com (https://hosewarehouse.com/field-specific-ez-clip-a-c-hose-and-fittings). Their prices should be a little cheaper if you can figure out what fittings you need.

Try a heavy duty truck supply place locally. I had a place here in town order them for me at really good prices. I get a lot of fittings from VMACsINC on ebay too. Decent prices. The pliers are like $58 vs $80 from VA. For the hoses sometimes VMACs has a decent price and other times I just search around. Here's a couple of links. HTH.

Long time switcher to EZ Clip. Could never get double ended 45's or 90's to "land" where I needed them with the stainless Aero fittings, they were a pain. You really have to shop around on the prices.

Nothing against VA but they are stupid expensive on things like this. I guess that’s what happens when you don’t physically manufacture the product. You have to upcharge to make a profit. The EBay link is probably the same kit.

Definitely the way to go vs braided. I was able to piece together part numbers for a typical VA install with two different compressor fitting options. I'll see if I can locate it and post the link or part numbers here.

Here is the list I came up with copied from another post I made at this link: https://www.pro-touring.com/threads/123419-Custom-A-C-hoses-who-s-kit?highlight=aeroquip+clip

Hopefully this is correct...I went through the kit and tried to match up the parts at hosewarehouse.com:

If you go to page 4 here: http://www.vintageair.com/Instructions2013/907002.pdf

This where the hosewarehouse.com part numbers match up in order if I did this correctly.

1. GH134-06 (10')
2. GH134-08 (6' )
3. GH134-10 (5' )

4. 22546-11 (5)
5. 22546-13 (2)
6. 22546-15 (2)

11. FJ5985-0606S (2)
12. FJ3055-030808S
13. FJ5984-1010S

14. 1F40105-06C (5 )
15. 1F40104-06C (10)
16. 1F40105-08C (2 )
17. 1F40104-08C (4 )
18. 1F40105-10C (2 )
19. 1F40104-10C (4 )

20. Grommet, Large (these should be the same as the ones included with the VA kit already unless I'm mistaken)
21. Refrigerant oil for hose assembly (will any do or something specific?)

The pliers and cutters are $52.81 & $35.19 as of this posting. They may be available elsewhere cheaper, but I haven't looked yet.

I haven't added the other parts up to see what the exact difference would be.

If anyone sees any mistakes, please let me know.

And then this update as I was installing it;

So far, #9 and #13 will not work with the evaporator. They are staright -6 and -10 as listed and should be 90's. I'm not sure if all evaporator units are the same, but for my 70-81 F-body kit, these should be :

9. FJ5985-0606S (90 Deg -6)
13. FJ5985-1010S (90 Deg -10)

The rest of the kit looks like it'll work, but no way to tell for a while as I'm not quite there yet.

Update:

All of this worked for me without any other additional parts in my 2nd gen LS equipped Firebird using a Kwik bracket and typical mounting system.

I got my $85 ebay kit. It is a Chinese knockoff but everything looks good aside from no caps on the service ports. Of course the true test is five years of use with no leaks etc.

Ok so tried to assemble some hoses. The hose is slightly larger diameter than the Aeroquip hose and the -10 ring clamps deform when you try to assemble them. Tried some genuine EZ clip clamps but the hose is too large. Was able to assemble a -6 hose.

It seems there is no free lunch here.

One is a Chinese knock off, the other one uses Aeroquip hoses (not sure where the fittings came from).

Then you know why the Chinese kit is $85.

Thanks for the update Don.

I think that might be the website I used. They were a 3rd of the price from summit. I tried finding a old invoice and I couldn’t

Maybe, almost, a third less but definitely not a third the price.

Just confirmed. I bought mine from hose warehouse. Summit had a fitting for $26 and hose warehouse
had it for $12. You will save a good amount of money buying from there
