Hey there. Iʻm dusting off my Pro-Touring account because I feel I have a question best to be asked here.
Iʻm a "novice" autocrosser thatʻs looking to make improvements and put down some slightly more competitive times this year, and looking to fine tune my car (and driving) instead of continuing to throw bolt-ons at it.
So the problem is I have very little budget this year and Iʻm due for a new set of tires.
What I have to work with is a set of 16x8 wheels. Currently I have a set of 255/50 Hankook C51s on them but they arenʻt SCCA CAM-T legal. The plan is to ditch those and get street tires for those wheels, and make them my new summer wheels. (Current summer wheels are 15x7 T-Type wheels with worn out 235&255/60 Cooper Cobras.)
The tires Iʻm looking at are the BFG G-Force Sport Comp-2. They arenʻt available in 235/55 or 235/50, so Iʻm looking at 225/55 and 245/50.
So should I go with the 245 for a larger contact patch?
Or should I go with the 225 to try an keep my section width about square with my rim width?
Thanks ahead of time.
