I'm in the process of retro fitting a new condenser, dryer, compressor and A/C lines to the factory evaporator in my 70 Roadrunner. The factory system used an expansion valve attached to the evaporator line coming out of the firewall. I would like to replace the expansion valve assembly with just a 90* fitting and ez-clip hose.

My question is can I use an orifice tube in place of the expansion valve assembly and where should the orifice tube be plumbed in the system?

With an exp valve you have a drier in the liquid line(line between the condenser and evap).
When an office tube is used you do not have a drier, instead there is an accumulator in the suction side of the system.
