To Power or not to Power...

I have a question... Is there a reason people go to power brakes on these early cars? I did, but now I'm wondering if I shouldn't just have gone with a manual brake system. Any suggestions or input?
      Thanks

To Power or not to Power...

I did a manual brake set up on my 69 Camaro. I am running the C6 brakes front and rear with a 7/8" Wilwood master cylinder. I personally like the pedal feel and feedback of manual brakes over the feel of power brakes. It doesn't require that much more effort over power brakes to stop the car,but I know it annoys some folks. I also wouldn't own a muscle car with an auto transmission but I know shifting gets old to many folks.

There is no real reason to go with a power assist brake unless you are trying to correct a problem. Like Marc, I also have C6 Z06 brakes front and rear with a 7/8" MC manual and I too like the feel and response. The advantage of manual brakes is that the system is simple and reliable.

I do have 4 wheel disc, and 4 speed. I've always liked the way the manual felt too, I don't really know why I decided to go with the power assist this time. I may wind up going back to the manual. What about proportioning valve? use the one I already have? or go with the manual valve? Thanks for the help.

I went with a manual proportioning valve plumbed in after the master cylinder in the rear brake line. It works great.

I run manual brakes with C6 Z06 front brakes and LS1 Camaro rear brakes. I use a 7/8" bore Dodge MC.
