      Another question George,

How does Tim's truck perform? Does he AutoX? and if so, how well does he do?

With the QA1 shock valving, can you go all the way to full stiff on the rear shock rebound valving without the truck getting loose on entry ... or does it get loose at some point?
So far the best setting has been at 13 clicks (18 total) as all the way (18) will loosen up the rear at entry however most of the track surfaces I've run have been rather rough with the exception of Marina, Ca. The truck performed extremely well at 13 clicks at Marina that I chose not to change a thing.

No first hand knowledge, but Tim reported on the forums that the truck performed very well with good success in AutoX and Club Racing.

My question was mainly trying to see how stiff the rebound could be adjusted on the QA1s. You've already learned firsthand what top tuners know ... you can add rebound in the rear to help tighten corner entry only so far ,,, at at some point ... the rebound is stiff ... but the shock can't hold the car or truck down ... so the tires "get light".

When I looked at Tim's website, it is clear he has tried many different set-ups, documented the changes & results ... and landed on & stuck with a soft spring/big bar setup, that travels the front end more on entry & rolls less. This is a more modern set-up & if fully worked out & dialed in ... will be a little quicker.

This is very true and as a result I reinstalled the trailer hitch and spare tire to add weight. I had removed these items to lighten the truck when drag racing.

BTW Ron - I just noticed that you are out of Sacramento, are you attending any of the local AutoX events?

This same effect happens in race cars at a certain point of rear shock rebound stiffness.

So far, I've only gone to the GG events in Pleasanton.

Mike Maier has invited me to to the AAS events, but I haven't made it to one yet. Do you run AAS, SCCA or both?

I have participated in SCCA, AAS and GG events. Please say hello if you ever see the Red Brick at a future event.
