bopught new battery, bolts to short

Have an odd question, I boght a new ac delco 78 batter for my 79 TA,
Go to install it and the bolts for the side terminal.
I know that they should bolt right up but they wont. I have also gone and bought every size bolt thatthe auto parts stores have and those are too long.
Any advise they bolted right up to the battery I took out.

I would use a 1 in 3/8 in bolt, with a 3/8 nut on it. Install it finger tight in battery then use a wrench too tighten the nut. It also gives a place where to jump start and or for test probe connections.
